Error description

  • For a Tivoli Storage Manager server in a Windows environment,
    the following message might be reported if the active log files
    point to a symlink/junction point and if the root file system
    does not have enough space for the transaction log files:
    SQL1762N Unable to connect to database because there is not
    enough space to allocate active log files. SQLSTATE=08004
    
    The symptom is caused by DB2 defect IC99445: DURING
    UPGRADE/MOVING OF TRANSACTION FILES CAN FAIL WITH
    SQLP_NO_SPACE_FOR_LOG

Local fix

  • review the db2diag.log for the SQLP_NO_SPACE_FOR_LOG message:

    Look to ensure that the root drive has enough free space to
    handle the number/size of transaction log files.
    In the above ensure you have 17180131328bytes of free space on
    the root drive (in the example C:\)
