IC99013: TSMUTIL1.DLL FILE MAY BE REMOVED BY UPGRADE THE SERVER

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Running tsmdiag fails to collect all
    required information after upgrading the TSM Server.
    
    Some files such as actlog_last24hrs or qsystem are blank.
    Issuing "dsmadmc" from the tsmdiag directory results in a popup
    with the following message:
    ======
    dsmadmc.exe - system error can not startup program because
    tsmutil1.dll
    does not exist in this computer
    ======
    
    This is due to the tsmutil1.dll library being removed from the
    C:\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\server\tsmdiag\ directory on
    upgrade. This dll is required by tsmdiag to issue commands to
    the TSM Server through dsmadmc.exe.
    
    The problem may occur after upgrading from a 6.2.x or below
    release to a 6.3.x or above release.
    
    Tivoli Storage Manager Versions affected:
    Tivoli Storage Manager Server 6.3 and 7.1 on Windows  platforms.

Local fix

  • Repair the server install by navigating to "Programs and
    Features", right clicking on the TSM Server entry and selecting
    "Repair." or Copy tsmutil1.dll from C:\Program
    Files\Tivoli\TSM\console\ to C:\Program
    Files\Tivoli\TSM\server\tsmdiag\
