Error description

  • When the reconditioning cycle of batteries occurs back to back
    to back there is a period of vulnerability for approximately 5
    hours after the first battery has finished its discharge cycle,
    is still recalibrating.
    Only batteries that exhinit these FRU Numbers are exposed
    85Y6161 and 00AR044
    The vulnerable period is ..
    (1) In the period after the first battery has finished its
    discharge cycle
    (2) While the second battery is reconditioning.
    (3) If the first battery temperature is below 19 degrees C
    

Local fix

Problem summary

  • Storwize V7000 systems containing batteries shipped from March
    2013 onwards may experience a loss of access to data while the
    system is performing its routine 90-day battery maintenance
    cycle.
    

Problem conclusion

  • This issue was resolved by APAR HU00013 in the V6.4.1.6 and
    V7.1.0.5 PTF releases. IBM PureApplication System version
    1.1.0.2 contains the V6.4.1.6 release.
