Error description

  • When using client-side deduplication, the following message can
    appear in the dsmerror.log:
ANS7906W Current storage pool ran out of space, data will be
stored into the next pool - deduplication is disabled.

When all of the following conditions occur this behavior can be
    seen:
     - Deduplication cache is used (this is the default)
     - Multiple storage pools are used during the backup
     - More than one of the storage pools used is enabled for
       deduplication
     - All files are found in the deduplication cache

Versions Affected: Tivoli Storage Manager Server version 6.2.x
and higher with client side deduplication enabled.

Customer/L2 Diagnostics: A trace of the backup on the client and
server will show that the dedup threads on the client are using
the cache, and that the server never receives a chunk query on
    the chunk query thread.

    Initial Impact: Medium

    Additional Keywords: dedup tsm dedupcache

Local fix

  • There are two methods to correct this behavior:
    1. Set 'enablededupcache no' in the Backup-Archive Client
       dsm.opt file
    OR
    2. Disable deduplication on all of the pools except for
       one being used during processing
