Error description

  • When taking VM backup by "backup vm", it may never end due to
    the hang of Tivoli Storage Manager Client process.   The
    problem may happen depending on system load due to the race
    condition between threads processing the internal message queue.
    
    The problem may happen with both dsmc and dsmagent, i.e. GUI
    client.
    
    Tivoli Storage Manager Versions affected:
    Tivoli Storage Manager Client 6.4 on Windows and Linux
    platforms.

Local fix

  • Force to terminate dsmc.exe using Windows Task Manager, then
    retry backup vm.
