Error description

  • The Tivoli Storage Manager client command line is unable to
    restore a virtual machine (VM) that has been renamed under the
    following conditions:
    
    1) The virtual machine VMNAME has been renamed to include
    different casing.
     Example "windows 2003" to WINDOWS 2003" or "WinDows 2003"
    
    This issue will not be seen if the VMNAME has had no
    additional characters added or removed, and the casing of
    the name has not changed as shown in the prior example.
    
    Steps to recreate:
    1) Backup a VM in all lower case.
    Example: 'backup vm "windows 2003'
    2) Rename the VM to be all upper case or mixed case.
    3) Backup the VM again.
    Example:  'backup vm "windows 2003"'
    Note: It will not matter if the name of the VM is in
    upper,lower, or mixed case.
    Query VM output:

    4) Attempt to restore the VM using the '-pick' option:
    example: 'restore vm "windows 2003" -pick'
    Note:  Running  'restore vm "WINDOWS 2003" -pick" will produce
    the same results
    The output will only show the lower case version.

    The local Java GUI (dsm.exe) will show all three versions with
    the
    different casing.
