IC94759: VOLUME CLEAR LOCK AT SERVER STARTUP FOR AN ACSLS LIBRARY MAY NEED A LONG TIME

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • At Tivoli Storage Manager server startup all library volumes
    for an ACSLS library are locked when they are in use.
    The volume clear lock is running for each library volume one
    after the other.
    This may take a long time when a high number of library volumes
    are in use and might result in long mediawaits.
    
    This APAR is opened to document the requirement to skip this
    lock processing during server startup.
    
    Customer/L2 Diagnostics :
    Example from a trace of the start of s server with
    TRACE ENABLE MMS being placed in the dsmserv.opt file:

Problem summary

Problem conclusion

  • This problem was fixed.  The volume unlock processing at library
    
    initialization will only be done if the new option below is
    enabled as follows:
    
    ACSINITVOLUMEUNLOCK  YES
    
    Affected platforms:  AIX, HP-UX, Solaris, Linux, and Windows.
