Error description

  • In Configuration Assistant (db2ca), in the Data Source panel of
the Add Database Wizard, the "Optimize for Application" drop
down list box contains only the item "None".

Here is how to reproduce this problem:

    1) Start Configuration Assistant.
    2) Select from the Configuration Assistant menu
Select -> Add Database Using Wizard...
The Add Database Wizard window should appear.
    3) In the "1. Source" panel of the Add Database Wizard, select
"Manually configure a connection to a database",
       then click the "Next>" button.
    4) In each of the following panels, select suitable values for
    your database
then click the "Next>" button until you get to the "5. Data
    Source" panel.
    5) In the "5. Data Source" panel, check the "Register this
    database for CLI/ODBC" checkbox.

Now the "Optimize for application" drop down list box contains
    only the item "None".

Local fix

  • To work around this problem, before you start Configuration
Assistant, set the DB2 registry variable DB2CLIINIPATH to the
SQLLIB directory under the DB2 database product installation
    path.
For example, if your DB2 database product installation path is
    C:\Program Files\IBM, run:
     db2set DB2CLIINIPATH="C:\Program Files\IBM\SQLLIB"
If you start Configuration Assistant after that, the "Optimize
for application" drop down list box contains these items:
     None
     Lotus Approach
     Microsoft Access
     Microsoft Visual Basic
