CVEID: CVE-2015-0235
DESCRIPTION: The gethostbyname functions of the GNU C Library (glibc) are vulnerable to a buffer overflow. By sending a specially crafted, but valid hostname argument, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system with the privileges of the targeted process or cause the process to crash. The impact of an attack depends on the implementation details of the targeted application or operating system. This issue is being referred to as the "Ghost" vulnerability.

Affected Products and Versions


IBM System Storage SONAS

All products are affected when running code releases 1.3, 1.4 and 1.5 except for version 1.5.2.0 and above.

Remediation/Fixes


IBM recommends that you fix this vulnerability by upgrading affected versions of IBM System Storage SONAS to the following code level or higher:

1.5.2.0

Workarounds and Mitigations


None
Although IBM recommends that you install a level of code with a fix for this vulnerability, you can mitigate, although not eliminate, your risk until you have done so by ensuring that all users who have access to the system are authenticated by another security system such as a firewall.
