IBM Support

iSCSI Host Ports Incorrectly Reported as Offline

Troubleshooting

Problem

SAN Volume Controller and Storwize V7000 detailed views for host objects will always report iSCSI host ports as offline. SAN Volume Controller and Storwize V7000 code earlier than 6.2.0 will also report the number of node logins as zero.

Symptom

For example, "svcinfo lshost" issued against an iSCSI host with ID 1, would produce output similar to the following:

id 1
name host1
port_count 1
type generic
mask 1111
iogrp_count 4
iscsi_name iqn.myhost.hostid.7f000001
node_logged_in_count 0
state offline

The reported 'offline' state is not an indication of whether the host port is genuinely offline or not. Until this issue is resolved, the login status for an iSCSI host should be determined from the host itself

Resolving The Problem

Fix

This issue was fixed in the V6.2.0.2 PTF release.
