Resolving The Problem
Problem: When working in PDM, an error message PDM0371 may be issued.
Message ID . . : PDM0371
Message . . . . : PDM cannot complete the display list.
Cause . . . . . : An exception condition occurred when processing object
list. The working storage required by the task exceeds the allowed system
limit. The requested operation cannot continue. Either the object sizes are very large, or there are too many objects for this operation. Recovery . . . : Try to work with a subset of the objects or members.
Reason: PDM has a 16MB segment in which it stores the names of the objects and libraries that it is working with. If it exceeds this limit, it will fail with the message PDM0371. This can occur when the list of libraries or objects being worked with is very long or when there are large objects in the list. Damaged objects can also affect the 16MB segment. The size of this segment is a design limitation of PDM and cannot be changed.
Work-around: You can work with a subset of the libraries, objects, or members using WRKLIBPDM, WRKOBJPDM, or WRKMBRPDM and using a value other than *ALL for the parameters.
**NOTE** Subsetting on Object attribute (OBJATR) will NOT provide a work-around.
You can also use RSE (Remote Systems Explorer) to view the list. RSE is a part of Rational Developer for i. Alternatively, you can user WRKLIB option 12 or DSPLIB to display the contents of the library.
