If you are upgrading to IBM i 7.3, please load the following
PTFs, and then follow the directions in SAP note 2299407,
especially noting the pre-requisite kernel patch levels.
When installing additional 5770-SS1 options or other Licensed
Program Products(LPPs), reload and reapply group and cumulative
PTFs.
To order the most recent cumulative or group, request the
SFxxxxx number shown below. CL command WRKPTFGRP displays the
current level and status of cumulative and Group PTFs that are
installed on the partition. CL command DSPPTF displays, by LPP,
the individual PTFs have been installed on this partition.
Also keep in mind, that the HIPER GROUP is much more important,
than the Cumulative package.
As HIPER PTFs are High Impact Pervasive PTFs !!!

DRIVER INFORMATION FOR SAP JAVA BASED APPLICATIONS
A Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) driver is required for SAP
workloads that are based on Java. There are different options
available to you and your choice will depend on several factors.
See SAP note 654800 to determine which driver will meet your
requirements. The notes will also indicate from where you may
obtain that driver and in which IFS directory it should be
placed.
The IBM Toolbox for Java LPP is shipped as part of
5770-SS1 (option 3) - Extended Base Directory Support and the
latest version will be included in the PTF lists for SS1 above.
If you are upgrading from an older IBM i release, the LPP
5761-JC1 should be removed.
If you are using the JTOpen toolbox driver, the recommended
version is 7.0 and can be obtained from following the links at
http://www.ibm.com/systems/i/software/toolbox/downloads.html

DATABASE CLIENT CODE FOR WINDOWS BASED SAP APPLICATION SERVERS
SAP note 1431956 states SAP systems using Windows application
servers with IBM i 7.1 or later will use SAP DBSL Direct Drive
(XDN) as a database client. XDN is shipped within the SAP
kernel. IBM i Access is no longer required for Windows-based
SAP application servers.
