EAV Paging enhances the z/VM Control Program (CP) by
allowing paging space to be located on Extended Address
    Volumes (EAVs).
Paging space on ECKD devices can now support cylinders from
    0-1,182,005.
Volumes must first be formatted, which can be done with the
new CPFMTXA support, then attached to the system.

Comments

  • The Control Program (CP) has been modified to handle ECKD PAGE
space on EAVs up to cylinder 1,182,005.
CPFMTXA has been modified to handle the new cylinder ranges for
    PAGE space.
There is a defect in SALIPL with EAVs that was fixed.
The updated cylinder range affects the following publications:
      z/VM: Migration Guide (GC24-6294-02)
Summary of the EAV Paging function, including a summary of
documentation changes to commands, SMAPI, monitor, and
        other publications.
z/VM: CP Commands and Utilities Reference (SC24-6268-02)
Includes updates to ATTACH command and CPFMTXA utility
        documentation.
z/VM: CP Planning and Administration (SC24-6271-01)
        Updates PAGE allocation cylinders.
z/VM: CP Messages and Codes (GC24-6270-01)
Updates to messages HCP138E and HCP139E
      z/VM: Performance (SC24-6301-02)
