After installing APAR VM66120, the SMAPI VSMGUARD and one or
more SMAPI request servers each began consuming nearly 50% of
available CPU and produced no discernible results.

Problem conclusion

  • VM66120 corrected a problem with the timing of accesses to the
SMAPI shared queue and AF_IUCV connections interfering with each
other. Part of this correction was adding a ThreadDelay call to
the check loop. However, the ThreadDelay function was not
properly defined in the code calling it, no delay occurred, and
the check loop continued indefinitely. The change is to add the
proper definitions for the ThreadDelay function.
