Error description

  • iostat will leak memory when using the -V flag; this is
    more noticeable on systems with a large number of disks,
    and can cause a core dump if iostat then runs out of
    dataspace memory.
    

Local fix

  • The leak only happens with -V, so not using that flag
    will prevent it.
    

Problem summary

  • iostat with option -V will leaks memory which may leads to
    core dump.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Avoid using the -V option with iostat.
