IV67408: ERRORS FROM MKSYSB/SAVEVG WHEN USING SNAPSHOT OPTION (-T) APPLIES TO AIX 7100-03

Error description

  • When creating a mksysb or savevg backup using the
    snapshot
    (-T) option, errors similar to the following may appear:
    Creating snapshots.
    mkdir: 0653-357 Cannot access directory
       /admin/mksysb.11141358/var/adm/ras.
    /admin/mksysb.11141358/var/adm/ras: A file or directory
    in
       the path name does not exist.
    mount: 0506-324 Cannot mount /dev/fslv01 on
       /admin/mksysb.11141358/var/adm/ras/livedump: A file
       or directory in the path name does not exist.
    ..
    Creating list of files to back up.
    find: 0652-010 The starting directory is not valid.
    

Local fix

  • Create the mksysb or savevg backup without the snapshot
    (-T) option.

  • Updated code to process the snapshot file systems in order by
    hierarchy.
