Error description

  • popen() creates the fifo using the pipe system call.
    If the then following fork fails, this fifo is not
    closed.
    

Local fix

Problem summary

  • A system might run into a low memory situation when,
    there is a running process which is calling popen()
    repeatedly, and popen() is failing because of fork()
    failure.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Added code changes to perform correct clean up in the
    popen(), if the popen() call fails because of fork
    failure.
