IV64157: LVM COMMANDS MAY FAIL ON SVG WITH UNACCOUNTABLE INTERNAL ERROR APPLIES TO AIX 7100-03

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When chvg -g <VG> command is run to examine disk size
growth, numpps field in VG Header of scalable VG doesnot
get updated. As a result, when hdisks are reduced from
VGs,
sometimes it results in negative numpps value. This
causes
few LVM commands to fail with below error:

0516-070 lreducelv: LVM system call found an
unaccountable
        internal error.

Problem summary


    

  • chvg -g code does not update numpps field in SVG metadata on
disk.  This can cause future problems as described above.

  • Modify chvg -g code to update numpps field properly
