IV62004: CAA SYSTEM CRASH DUE TO DMS TIMEOUT IF INTERFACE IS DETACHED APPLIES TO AIX 7100-02

  • CAA node crashed dumping a core with the following stack
    trace:

    System error log reported KERNEL_PANIC with the panic
    string "Deadman timer triggered".
    
    The syslog.caa log reported the AHAFS event of the
    ADAPTER_DEL type immediately before the node crash.
    
    The crash will occur very soon after detaching with
    the ifconfig command any interface having no IP address
    configured and marked with an asterisk in a 'netstat -i'
    display.
    

Local fix

  • There is no workaround to the problem.
    There is a suggestion to avoid operations that would
    reproduce the issue.

Problem conclusion

  • Do not set the number of interfaces to zero if just detaching
    one interface.
