APAR status

Error description

  • Binaries compiled with AIX C/C++ compiler 4.2 release and
    older level encounter a problem in some cases when trying
    to resolve a symbol through a dlsym call. Dlsym fails to
    lookup the symbol and returns an EINVAL.
    
    The binaries geenrated by Aix C/C++ 4.2 and older
    compilers  when run on Aix 6.1 can fail with EINVAL.
    

Local fix

  • Currently no local fix is available
    

Problem summary

  • In a program linked on AIX 4.1 or earlier, calls to dlsym()
    fail with EINVAL.
    

Problem conclusion

  • dlopen related data structures have been populated with
    incorrect values for older binaries,Now it has been fixed in
    such a way that dlopen related data structures should contain
    proper values.
