Error description

  • When auth_type is set to PAM_AUTH in
    /etc/security/login.cfg file,
    AIX allows user to login without asking for the user's
    password which is not null
    

Local fix

Problem summary

  • When auth_type is set to PAM_AUTH in
    /etc/security/login.cfg file,AIX allows KRB5LDAP
    user to login without asking for the user's password
    which is not null, when pwdadm -R KRB5LDAP -c user
    is used.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The user password is validated properly before authenticating
    successfully.
