Error description

  • After migrating to 6.1tl9 or 7.1tl3, auditing may fail to
start with:

# audit start
** failed setting role based audit classes

This problem may be intermittent.

Local fix

  • Local fix:

Add the following stanza to /etc/nscontrol.conf:

auditconfig:
        secorder = files

* bos.rte.security fileset below the 7.1.3.15 level.

* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:

* Install APAR IV54829.

Problem conclusion

  • The config stanza value in /etc/nscontrol.conf file is parsed
properly before starting the audit subsystem.
