Error description

  • cat /proc/sys/fs/jfs2/memory_usage may return with an
    error
    and if it didn't return with an error, it returned an
    incomplete message.
    
    $ cat /proc/sys/fs/jfs2/memory_usage
    cat: /proc/sys/fs/jfs2/memory_usage: A system call
    received a parameter that is not valid.
    cat: 0652-053 Cannot close the file.
    
    $ cat /proc/sys/fs/jfs2/memory_usage
    total: 220823552
    
    The expected message should look like:
    $ cat /proc/sys/fs/jfs2/memory_usage
    metadata cache: 8163328
    inode cache: 4259840
    total: 12423168
    
    This problem occurs on 61Y.
    

Local fix

Problem summary

  • '$c at /proc/sys/fs/jfs2/memory_usage' may return with an
    error or an incomplete message.
    
    $ cat /proc/sys/fs/jfs2/memory_usage
    cat: /proc/sys/fs/jfs2/memory_usage: A system call
    received a parameter that is not valid.
    cat: 0652-053 Cannot close the file.
    
    $ cat /proc/sys/fs/jfs2/memory_usage
    total: 220823552
    

Problem conclusion

  • In tuning_file_read(), check buffer size before
    calling uiomove()
