Error description

  • # patch -b -up1 -i ../patch_u.diff
Processing... Looks like a unified context diff...
The text leading up to this was:
    --------------------------
    |diff -u before/samp.h after/samp.h

    |+++ after/samp.h   2013-08-08 21:26:13.000000000 -0500
    --------------------------
Patching file samp.h using Plan A...
    Hunk #1 succeeded at 35.
Processing... Ignoring the trailing text. <== wrong
    done

Local fix

  • Use patch -c as a workaround.

Problem summary

  • When using a unified context diff file as an input to the patch
command to patch differences in a file, and there are more
than one hunks present in the diff file. Then the patch command
might not process all the hunks.

Problem conclusion

  • Modify loop termination condition to ensure context diff
    hunk read processing contained.
