APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • There is a memory leak in the rmcd process, in a code path
related to analyzing RTAS (Run Time Abstraction Services) data
on Power systems. The initial discovery was just after a
a customer had moved to Power 8 hardware, so the HW level may
be a differentiator (although in what way is not known yet).

As part of the criticial clustering infrastructure, a
crash of RMC can cause a node failure in SAMP, PowerHA,
    or VIOS SSP clustering.
