DY47790: HARD COPY FILE IN OVERLAY MODE WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING MESSAGE 0D20E HARD COPY FILE SHOULD BE PRINTED

APAR status

Error description

• The hard copy file (HCF) becomes full and the system starts
  overwriting the oldest recorded information, causing message
  0D25E HARD COPY FILE IN OVERLAY MODE to be issued, without prior
  issuing of the warning message 0D20E HARD COPY FILE SHOULD BE
  PRINTED.

  PRINTLOG ALL and NEW both cause the redetermination of the
  warning and overlay points in the hard copy file, where
  messages 0D20E and 0D25E are issued. 0D20E when the warning
  point is reached and 0D25E when the overlay point is reached.
  The overlay point is determined as the location of the first
  unprinted record in the hard copy file. The warning point is
  determined as the location a certain distance (about 20% of
  the size of the HCF) before the overlay point.
  Under rare circumstances the warning point is erroneously
  determined as the location of the hard copy file header record.
  During recording of console messages this point is actually
  never reached, so that message 0D20E is not issued.
  

Problem conclusion

• Code adapted to avoid that warning point does not point to
  HCF header.
