Download Description

Launch the Identification Utility for IBM Deskstar hard drives and read the content of section FIRMWARE CHECK. If firmware update is needed, go to section DETECTED DEVICES to identify the drive and firmware needed. Another possibility is to launch the IBM Enhanced Diagnostics (PC Doctor diagnostics), select Hardware Info, then select IDE Drive Info to locate the "Drive Model" information.

If the firmware revision of your IBM DeskStar hard disk drive is of the form xxxOxxxx, where x can represent any number or letter, then you should update your firmware with the file (pz2z18us.exe) displayed above. If the firmware revision of your IBM DeskStar hard disk drive is of the form xxxIxxxx, then you should update your firmware with the file (pz2z16us.exe). Please note that the distinguishing factor is the fourth digit of the firmware revision.
