Changing asset status to decommissioned when workorders (WO's) exist against the asset

Question & Answer

Question

Can the status of an asset be set to decommissioned when workorders (WO's) exist against this asset?

Answer

Yes, you're allowed to change the Asset Status to DECOMMISSIONED when there are open WO's against it.

You will need to manually process the work orders to a status of CLOSE or COMPLETE for decommissioned assets.

Please note the additional information on decommissioned assets in the knowledge centre

Decommissioned

The asset in no longer in use. This status indicates that an asset is permanently out of service, is damaged, or is no longer useful. Decommissioned assets do not show up in a search, and new work orders cannot be created on decommissioned asset records. However, the assets can be viewed in the Assets application and can be moved to different locations. For example, you can move the asset from a repair location to salvage location.

There is no mention of existing, open WO's, only that new WO's cannot be created against the decommissioned asset.
