Planning Analytics Multi-Threaded Feeders Functionality Potential Data Loss

Flashes (Alerts)

Abstract

A defect has been identified with the multi-threaded feeders functionality in Planning Analytics Server. This defect can potentially cause a data loss on input cells that are fed. The APAR number for this defect is PH05780.

Content

Multi-threaded feeders functionality is enabled by setting MTFeeders=T in the tm1s.cfg file.  APAR PH05780 may cause a loss data on input cells if the input cells are fed.  Feeding input cells is not required, only rule derived cells must be fed when SKIPCHECK is used in rules.

IBM recommends disabling multi-threaded feeders by setting MTFeeders=F in the tm1s.cfg file.  This parameter is dynamic and does not require a restart of the Planning Analytics database.  If the tm1s.cfg file also has PersistentFeeders=T the Planning Analytics model should be restarted with all .feeder files removed from the data directory (stop the Planning Analytics model, remove any .feeders files from the data directory, then start the Planning Analytics model).

This Technote will be updated to note the version where this defect has been resolved.
