Subsetting DBMON or Plan Cache Snapshot Data for One Job or Query from a System-Wide Collection from Access Client Solutions (ACS)

Steps

When reviewing an SQL statement in a Database monitor (DBMON) or Plan cache snapshot data, it may be useful to limit the data to a specific job, or a specific query.

That can be done manually or through the IBM i Access Client Solutions (ACS) client. This document explains the procedure how to do it through ACS.

1. Open ACS and select SQL Performance Center from the Database tab:

2. Open the Plan Cache Snapshot or DBMON that contains the SQL/job you want to subset:

• right click on the data and select Show Statements:

3. Click on Show on the next screen that pops up so that you can see all the SQL statements.

You can also use any combination of the filters to narrow down your search:

4. When the data is displayed on the screen, you can sort the data in any way you want and you can select only the statements you want, only the jobs you want, etc. to subset.

For example, if we want to get all the the Q1PDR jobs into their own plan cache snapshot:

• select all the rows you want to subset (click on a row, then hold down the CTRL key), then Right click on the rows and choose Save to New...

• choose a new name for your new snapshot and the library you want it to be

• press OK and you should get a confirmation message that the new snapshot was created successfully

After the save the new DBMON or Plan Cache Snapshot can be seen in the Performance Monitors or Plan Cache Snapshot tabs. They will contain only your selections.
