Summary
Burst Buffer (CAST) has addressed the following vulnerability. The CAST 1.1.1 RPMs were packaged with two unused setuid binaries which elevate user privileges and call the burst buffer stage-in and stage-out admin scripts. The operation of the stage-in and stage-out admin scripts could then be controllable by another user.

DESCRIPTION: IBM Burst Buffer (CAST) RPMs were packaged with a dormant setuid binary which could be used to escalate a user's system privileges and execute a commands as root.

Workarounds and Mitigations
There are two paths to resolve the
1) Install CAST 1.1.2 RPMs on all node types
OR
2) Disable or remove the setuid executables at /opt/ibm/bb/sbin/bbstagein_admin and /opt/ibm/bb/sbin/bbstageout_admin
