Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All DB2 11 for z/OS users * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: This APAR allows DECFLOAT data in an * * expression-based index, as long as * * final result data type is not DECFLOAT. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** DB2 for z/OS currently disallows DECFLOAT data in an expression for an expression-based index. That is, a DECFLOAT value cannot be referenced in such an expression, an intermediate data type cannot be DECFLOAT and the final result data type for the expression must not be DECFLOAT. This APAR partially lifts this restriction so that an intermediate DECFLOAT value is now allowed in a CREATE INDEX statement, as long as the final result data type for the expression is not DECFLOAT. EXAMPLE ======= CREATE TABLE MYTABLE1(DECFLOAT_COL DECFLOAT); CREATE INDEX MYINX1 ON MYTABLE1(DECIMAL (DECFLOAT_COL, 31,3)); The DECFLOAT column, DECFLOAT_COL, is cast as DECIMAL, so the resulting key value is a decimal value. However, DB2 still issues an SQLCODE -350 if the final result data type for the expression is DECFLOAT.
