Error description

  • In the customer's environment in order for SMTP transmissions to
work, DEST=SMTP must be used on the DD statement. Currently
there is no way to do this. A new statement will be provided
that will allow a DEST to be specified on the ALLOC command
that will be used by EZLESSMT.

    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
The EZLESSMT CLIST (which is called by the EZLEMAIL CLIST)
issues an ALLOCATE command, specifying the WRITER keyword with
the name of the SMTP writer program that was specified on
CNMSTYLE statement COMMON.EZLsmtpNAME or defaulted. The DEST
keyword is also allowed on the ALLOCATE command, but the
EZLESSMT CLIST does not provide a way to specify a value for
that keyword, nor does it include that keyword on the ALLOCATE
    command.

Problem conclusion

  • Sample CNMSTYLE is being changed to document the fact that the
COMMON.EZLsmtpNAME statement can now have a value of *NONE* as
well as a description of the new COMMON.EZLsmtpDEST statement.
Also, the Tivoli NetView for z/OS V6R2M1 Administration
Reference (SC27-2869-06) should be changed as follows:
     - The description of the COMMON.EZLsmtpNAME CNMSTYLE
initialization statement should be changed as follows:
       - The first sentence should be changed to read as follows:
The COMMON.EZLsmtpNAME statement specifies the member
name of the external writer that is to write an email
message to the SMTP server when the EZLEMAIL command is
           used.
       - The syntax diagram should be changed to read as follows:
              .-COMMON.EZLsmtpNAME--=--SMTP---------------------.
           >>-+-------------------------------------------------+-><
              '-COMMON.EZLsmtpNAME--=--member_name--------------'
              '-COMMON.EZLsmtpNAME--=--*NONE*-------------------'
       - The description of member_name should be changed to read as
         follows:
A sequence of 1 - 8 characters. This value is used on the
WRITER keyword on an ALLOCATE command for emails sent by
the EZLEMAIL command. The initial and default value of
           member_name is SMTP.
       - The description of *NONE* should be added, to read as
         follows:
No SMTP writer is to be used. Specify this value when
only a DEST value is used. See the description of the
           COMMON.EZLsmtpDEST initialization statement for more
           information.
     - The description of the COMMON.EZLsmtpDEST CNMSTYLE
initialization statement should be added to read as follows:
         COMMON.EZLsmtpDEST

The COMMON.EZLsmtpDEST statement specifies the destination
node to be used as the SMTP server for the EZLEMAIL
         command.

The COMMON.EZLsmtpDEST statement has the following syntax:

         COMMON.EZLsmtpDEST

         >>-COMMON.EZLsmtpDEST--=--destination--------------------><

         where:

         destination
The JES node name of the SMTP server that will send the
email to the intended recipients. This value is used on
the DEST keyword on an ALLOCATE command for emails sent
            by the EZLEMAIL command.

Note: Some installations require a DEST value of SMTP in
addition to a WRITER name of SMTP. See the
                  COMMON.EZLsmtpNAME initialization statement for
                  more information.

Note: If the EZLsmtpDEST common global variable is not
defined, the DEST keyword is not used on the ALLOCATE
command used by the EZLEMAIL command.

See APAR OA47779 for the corresponding update to the EZLESSMT
CLIST to support the new values.
