Error description

  • Currently, in order to customize Command Authorization Table
(CAT) definitions for the NetView product, users must edit
shipped sample CNMSCAT2. This causes users to have to edit it
each time the sample changes. The sample should include a member
for users to add their own definitions.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All users of Tivoli NetView for z/OS V6R2M1 *
    * who use the Command Authorization Table *
    * (CAT) sample CNMSCAT2 for command security. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Shipped sample CNMSCAT2 does not *
    *                      include a user-modifiable member.       *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
If shipped sample CNMSCAT2 is being used as the NetView Command
Authorization Table, if customizations are to be made to the
member, the member itself must be edited. This means that any
future maintenance that includes CNMSCAT2 will over-write the
    changes made by the customer.

Comments

  • Sample CNMSCAT2 is being changed to have a %INCLUDE of new
shipped sample CNMSCATU. This new sample is intended solely for
the purpose of user-defined CAT statements.
Also, the following documentation changes should be made:
    - The Tivoli NetView for z/OS V6R2M1 Installation: Getting
Started manual (GI11-9443-06) should be changed in the
      following ways:
      - In Appendix A, NetView Functions and Tasks, in the
subsection "Changing an operator ID", the words under the
heading "NetView command authorization table" should be
        changed to read as follows:
CNMSCAT2 or CNMSCATU member, if the following statement is
          specified: SECOPTS.CMDAUTH=TABLE
      - The following entry should be added to Table 1, List of
Samples, in Appendix C, NetView Samples Reference, below the
        indicated heading line:
          Distributed Data Set
          As Name Description Name
          ----------------------------------------------------------
          CNMSCATU same User-defined command DSIPARM
                                 authorization table
          ----------------------------------------------------------
    - The Tivoli NetView for z/OS V6R2M1 Security Reference
(SC27-2863-05) should be changed as follows:
      - In Chapter 3, Controlling Access to Commands, in the first
topic, Types of Command Authorization, the following note
should be added after the second paragraph:
Note: The CNMSCAT2 sample includes the CNMSCATU file,
which is intended for user modification.
