Comments

  • PRODUCT ENHANCEMENT
This APAR provides new function support for using a single parm
disk on z/VM systems running in a GDPS/PPRC configuration. The
function eliminates the requirement to use two separate parm
disks for stand alone z/VM systems or Single System Image (SSI)
clusters which have their PPRC secondary devices in an alternate
    subchannel set (MSS1).
The function is applicable to all GDPS/PPRC environments running
xDR for z/VM with the z/VM PPRC secondary devices in alternate
subchannel set (MSS1) includidng 3-site and 4-site MGM and MzGM
    configurations.

    DOCUMENTATION CHANGES
Chapter 3 in the GDPS/PPRC Extensions for Heterogeneous
Platforms manual (ZG24-1753) is revised to provide implemen-
tation, migration, and fallback information. See PTF DOC hold
    for details.

    PRODUCT DEPENDENCY
Implementing single parm disk support for xDR also requires
Tivoli System Automation for MultiPlatforms (SA MP) v4.1.0.2
with APAR (IV77608) or higher. Also, any z/VM system which is
using single parm disk support in a MSS0/MSS1 configuration must
be run on z Systems hardware that supports five digit IPL
    addresses.

    MULTIPLE SYSTEM CONSIDERATIONS
This PTF must be applied to both GDPS/PPRC controlling systems
prior to exploiting xDR single parmdisk support.
