Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: IMS V12 OTMA customers using flood control *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Need to crease the flood limit of 9999 *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: INSTALL CORRECTIVE SERVICE FOR APAR/PTF *
    ****************************************************************
    The current OTMA flood limit for input messages for a member is
    9999. And the default global flood limit for all members is
    8000. These limits could potentially be too low for customers.

Comments

  • OTMA flood limit for input messages for a member has been
    increased from 9999 to 65000.
    The default global flood limit for all members remain
    unchanged, however it can be set to a higher limit if
    the member limit in client descriptor is higher.
    See the following doc changes below.

    OTMA modules (DFSYDPD0, DFSYC490, DFSYSND0, DFSYIDC0,
    DFSYMOM0, and DFSYFD00) were enhanced to expand the limit from
    9999 to 65000.

    OTMA macros (DFSYMSG, DFSYMCB and DFSYMTE) were enhanced to
    accept higher limit stored in the 2-byte fields.

    IMS macro DISPLAY was enhanced so that /DIS OTMA
    and /DIS TMEMBER can show 5-char limit values under
    TIB and INPT header. And the length for XCF-STATUS
    field was reduced from 12-char to 11-char.

    UPDATES TO IMS RELEASE PLANNING GUIDE ARE:
    ===========================================================

    IMS OTMA flood limit for input messages has been increased
    from 9999 to 65000.

    ===========================================================
    UPDATES TO IMS SYSTEM DEFINITION ARE:
    ===========================================================

    INPT= PARAMETER FOR OTMA CLIENT DESCRIPTOR

    INPT=
    A 1- to 5-digit decimal integer that indicates the maximum
    number of flood limit for input messages for this member.

    Valid values are 200 - 65000 or 0. If the value is 1 - 200,
    it is treated as 200. If the value is over 65000,
    a value of 65000 is used.

    When this value is higher than the default global flood
    limit of 8000, the default global flood limit will be
    changed to this value. If more than one client descriptors
    have INPT values higher than the default global flood
    limit, the highest value will become the default global
    flood limit.

    ===========================================================
    UPDATES TO IMS COMMANDS ARE:
    ===========================================================

    Add changes to /START TMEM command

    INPUT

    A 1- to 5-digit decimal integer that indicates the maximum
    number of flood limit for input messages for this member
    or for OTMA server.

    Valid values are 200 - 65000 or 0. If the value is 1 - 200,
    it is treated as 200. If the value is over 65000,
    a value of 65000 is used.

    UPDATES TO IMS MESSAGES AND CODES ARE:
    ===========================================================
