    PRODUCT ENHANCEMENT
A new KSYSOFF parameter is introduced in GEOPLEX OPTIONS to
allow a GDPS/PPRC K-sys to run with Primary volumes offline,
thereby tolerating duplicate volsers across GDPS-managed z/OS
    environments.

    DEPENDENCY FOR EXPLOITATION
Along with this PTF, exploitation of the KSYSOFF=YES function
    also requires installation of the PTF for DFSMS APAR OA48085;
    UA78845 for z/OS 1.13, UA78846 for z/OS 2.1, and UA78847 for
    z/OS 2.2

    DOCUMENTATION CHANGES
See HOLD(DOC) data for details on revisions to the GDPS/PPRC
Installation and Customization Guide, ZG24-6703, including
Appendix K, 'GDPS z/OS Proxy support' and Appendix L, 'Using
GDPS to manage PPRC for non-GDPS systems'.
Additionally, the GDPS/MzGM Planning and Implementation Guide,
ZG24-6756 will be updated to reflect that the new function
described in this document is not supported for GDPS/MzGM 3-site
    or 4-site configurations.

    NEW MESSAGE
    GEO926E UTILITY DEVICE <ddddd > CAN NOT BE GROUPED. <rsn text>
Explanation: As a result of the KSYSOFF YES specifiction,
GDPS has attempted to "path group" all utility devices but was
unable to set the utility device <ddddd> in GROUPED state.
Mirroring status will be set to OK red because there is an
issue with one or more utility devices. The reason for the
failure is described by <rsn text> field
Action: If any dynamic changes have altered your I/O config-
uration, check whether these changes may have impacted this
utility device. If no changes have occurred since the last
time you performed a Config operation with this utility device
defined in GEOPARM, report the problem to IBM support. Until
the problem is fixed, change KSYSOFF to NO and recycle NetView
on the system reporting this problem.
    Destination: SYSLOG, SDF red
    Source: GDPS/PPRC, GDPS/HM, GDPS/MTMM

    CHANGED MESSAGES:
New inserts may be presented for message GEO199I:
Configuration is capable of: PPRC SUMMARY EVENT
Configuration is capable of: Remote Pair Flash Copy
New insert may be presented for message GEO924E:
'KSYSOFF = YES, not allowed with <flavors>'
Wording of message GEO270I is changed:
'NDSS REQUESTED' changed to 'STATESAVE REQUESTED'

Problem conclusion

Temporary fix

Comments

  • New KSYSOFF option introduced to allow the GDPS KSYS running
with the PRIMARY volumes offline and so allowing duplicate
volsers within the GDPS configuration.See HOLD DOC for further
    information.
