APAR status

  • Closed as new function.

Error description

  • Add a configuration option to Infoprint Server to change the
operation of the Infoprint Central release button. When this
option is chosen, the action of the release button will differ
from the ISPF/SDSF "o" option and will no longer force PSF
(Print Services Facility) to delete the job off the JES spool
once the job has printed. Jobs printed by PrintWay are not
affected and will continue to honor the PrintWay retain action.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: Users of z/OS Infoprint Server V2R1 or *
    *                 V2R2 and JES2 who use Infoprint Central      *
    * to release held PSF jobs for reprinting. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When Infoprint Central releases a JES *
    * job from the hold queue to be printed *
    * by PSF, the job is always deleted by *
    * PSF after the job prints. By design, *
    * Infoprint Central does the same JES *
    * commands as the SDSF "o" command *
    *                      does.                                   *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the applicable PTF. *
    ****************************************************************
Add a configuration parameter that changes the action of
the "release" button in Infoprint Central to leave the
OUTDISP specified in the particular document alone instead of
forcing OUTDISP=WRITE. This allows the customer more control
of the disposition of the job after PSF prints the job.

Comments

  • Add a configuration option to Infoprint Server to change
the operation of the Infoprint Central "release" button.
When this option is chosen, the action of the release
button will differ from the ISPF/SDSF "o" option and will
no longer force PSF (Print Services Facility) to delete the
job off the JES spool once the job has printed. Jobs
printed by PrintWay are not affected and will continue to
    honor the PrintWay retain action.

The new option is "use-output-disposition=yes". If this option
is not configured, then the operation of the "release" button
    is unchanged.

To set this new option when dynamic-configuration=yes,
use the "Other" field in ISPF/SDSF =12.8.8
( System - Manage System Configuration ) to enter:
    use-output-disposition=yes

When the configuration is saved, then the value is dynamically
    changed and becomes active immediately.

If dynamic-configuration is not active, then add this option to
the configuration file /etc/Printsrv/aopd.conf by adding the
    the following line:
     use-output-disposition=yes
After saving the change, please recycle Infoprint Server.
