Unable to set access control list error when removing VOBs or Views with McAfee 8.x installed

Problem

This technote explains why the IBM® Rational® ClearCase® commands []rmview[] and []rmvob[] fail on a Microsoft® Windows® host while McAfee® VirusScan® 8.00 is running.

Symptom

The full error below shows up when trying to remove a view on a system with McAfee VirusScan 8.0 installed.

Note: A similar error occurs when removing a VOB.

C:\>cleartool rmview -tag test1

Resolving The Problem


Upgrade to McAfee Virus Scanner 8.10 or apply McAfee Virus Scanner patch 10 or later for 8.0i.

Note: Applying patch 10 or later for McAfee VirusScan version 8.x fixes a known memory leak issue and resolves other known ClearCase command problems.
