Based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, DynaFront Systems Berhad, an IBM Advanced Business Partner, develops life insurance applications, systems and software. The company provides comprehensive technology offerings, from front-end sales and mobile solutions to back-end policy administration systems and portals. Serving insurance companies in Asia’s South Pacific, DynaFront has more than 60 employees.
To serve its customers better, DynaFront wanted to remove the high costs and complications associated with maintaining its IT infrastructure and sought an easy-to-manage solution that would speed time to market.
DynaFront implemented IBM® PureFlex™ System technology, an integrated solution from the IBM PureSystems™ family, and optimized its software solutions for the PureFlex System environment.
By integrating the server, network and storage, and its management, DynaFront expects to reduce 50 percent of its integration complexities, speed time to market and save maintenance costs.
Smarter Computing: The IT Infrastructure of a Smarter Planet
By implementing a solution from the IBM PureSystems family and optimizing its insurance software for this cloud-ready environment, DynaFront is simplifying processes, speeding time to market and saving costs, allowing insurers to operate more efficiently and effectively on the cloud. With expert integrated systems and streamlined management, DynaFront anticipates reducing its integration complexities by 50 percent and forecasts 45 percent faster performance. In addition, this low-cost solution speeds time to market from months to overnight. DynaFront has the flexibility to quickly configure the software solution that customers need, and customers can focus on innovating their insurance businesses.
Remove IT infrastructure operating costs and complications
With a low penetration rate, Southeast Asia’s life insurance industry is in its infancy and growing rapidly. As insurance companies expand, they turn to DynaFront for effective systems to support business growth, and DynaFront relies on its technology for increased capabilities.
Insurance products are complicated because policies carry value every year for up to 30 years, and insurers store massive volumes of data, including sensitive information about potentially millions of customers. Therefore, an insurance company requires a sizable server or multiple servers, various operating systems, ample storage, dependable security and intricate networking. Systems must be flexible, reliable and able to maintain policies and data for long periods.
To implement DynaFront systems, a customer had to purchase separate components at individual prices that added up quickly. Then it took weeks or months to integrate the disparate pieces into a coherent system, and in the process, insurers could incur significant expenses attempting to get systems to run smoothly. Once systems were established and the insurance company began to grow and change, it had to continually upgrade or expand system components. The insurer would spend more money and time creating systems to maintain its disconnected systems.
To serve its customers better, DynaFront wanted to remove the high costs and complications associated with operating its IT infrastructure and sought an easy-to-manage solution that would speed time to market. Further, the company needed scalable and flexible IT equipment that would increase time to market.
IBM PureSystems solution attracts DynaFront with expert, integrated systems
DynaFront implemented IBM PureFlex System technology, an expert, integrated solution from the IBM PureSystems family, and optimized its software solutions for the PureFlex System environment.
The DynaFront team was impressed to see that PureFlex System technology streamlines management and combines hardware, servers, networking and storage in a single box. Gan Hui Ping, chief operations officer at DynaFront, explains, “I cringed at what we were spending to maintain hardware, server, network and storage; then I heard about PureFlex. We can integrate everything into one box, and I only need a small technical team to oversee the single management point.”
With its offerings optimized for PureFlex System technology, DynaFront can provide its customers with simplified, security-rich and flexible cloud-based software solutions for a low cost. Insurers don’t need to invest in a high-cost IT infrastructure; they can use DynaFront solutions and only pay for what they use. As business grows, the DynaFront solution will scale to meet customers’ needs. With PureFlex System technology, DynaFront empowers insurers to focus on their insurance business while the software development company manages insurers’ IT environments.
Speeding time to market from months to overnight
DynaFront anticipates numerous benefits that will help the company serve its customers better as a result of optimizing its software solutions for PureFlex System technology. DynaFront expects to see enhanced system simplification, increased cost savings and faster time to market. By integrating the server, network and storage, and its management, DynaFront expects to reduce 50 percent of its integration complexities and forecasts 45 percent faster performance.
DynaFront can quickly configure the software product and processing power that the customer wants, and then its solution is cloud-ready. If a customer chooses a software solution today, DynaFront can implement it tomorrow, speeding time to market from months to overnight. According to Ho Yee Karm, chief marketing officer, “Complex configurations and timely setups caused issues; then PureFlex solved all our problems. Our clients were used to many prices for each component, but with PureSystems, we can offer one price and then everything is plug and play.”
Implementation is much faster and more streamlined because DynaFront does not need to complete any special configurations; the necessary components and expertise are preintegrated. In addition, the systems are more flexible. Security and scalability are preinstalled, so as a customer grows, DynaFront safely expands with it.
The ability to go to market so quickly increases the company’s confidence and sales capacity. DynaFront will no longer prospect a customer and then endure up to a year-long sales cycle. Now, pursuing a customer is low-risk because the time investment is significantly shortened. The company also anticipates a competitive advantage because it can move faster than its rivals and has the flexibility to quickly create any kind of model that a customer needs.
Because DynaFront invested in technology, it is able to target insurance companies of every size, rather than focusing solely on midsize companies. Smaller companies would not have been able to afford expert IT systems, and larger companies would have sought more advanced technology that could quickly scale to meet increased business needs. With PureFlex System technology, DynaFront provides cost-effective, scalable solutions that allow insurers to pay only for what they use, benefiting all company sizes.
