Develop and test – demo of the Continuous Integration Solution for z Systems Development The continuous integration testing process consists of continuously compiling, inspecting, deploying, and testing source code changes. This improves the likelihood of finding defects earlier in the development cycle, when they can be more easily managed, and it reduces the number of late-stage integration defects that cause development delays and much rework. In many continuous integration environments, this means running a new build whenever code in a source code management repository changes. We’ll demonstrate how easy and automated continuous testing can be in the mainframe environment.

Rational Asset Analyzer
Organizations host and maintain many of their mission-critical applications on z Systems. Some of these applications are long-lived and, over time, the human, institutional knowledge associated with them may have moved on. This session will illustrate how RAA can quickly provide application stakeholders insight into an application, its components, and all of their interrelationships. In contrast to traditional analysis methods, whereby users must often search source code to discern an application's behavior, RAA provides graphical insight into the application along with the ability to navigate to component details simply by following web page hyperlinks. This provides access and increased productivity to not only developers, but testers, managers, analysts and anyone else who may have an interest in the application.

Modernizing Batch and Online COBOL applications using Rational Asset Analyzer (RAA) and IBM Operational Decision Manager (ODM).
Shorten application change management schedules by combining these technologies and improve time-to-market. Gain a better understanding of your legacy applications and how the information flows across the enterprise. Take advantage of ODM features such as natural language rule writing and events capability, built-in rules testing capabilities. Leverage hot deployment of COBOL code so that rule changes can be rolled out quicker than legacy methods with versioning, to easily shift between versions used in deployed applications. These resources can be shared across the enterprise with write rules once, and deployed to any platform (z/OS and distributed). So, rules on all platforms are consistent across enterprise. With RAA you can understand application level information such as JCL streams, data files, programs, dependencies, program structure, program flow and control. This helps you develop a "vocabulary" whereby you tie software artifacts (e.g., DB2 Columns) to Business "semantics”.

The DevOps Approach: Develop and Test – Multiplatform Development with Integrated Solution for System z
This scenario-driven session uses a COBOL/CICS program that is invoked by a smartphone application. A bug is identified on the code that requires updates to z/OS as well as in the smartphone interface. We will demonstrate how the IBM DevOps solution helps the typical developer throughout the overall application lifecycle from requirements to delivery, improving project management, productivity, testing and deployment. The demonstration will start from the requirements and analysis phase through the final deployment using a z/OS system running on a local laptop. We’ll highlight the new integrated debugger which provides full edit, compile and debug capabilities out-of-the-box, removing the need for additional products for capabilities such as debug and code coverage.

The DevOps Approach - Speed the Development of CICS and MQ Applications with Service Virtualization
Rational Development and Test for System z (RD&T) offering can “virtualize CICS DPL and MQ based services to speed up the development process. For organizations that want to take advantage of the newest features and benefits of their CICS, IMS and MQ releases for their applications there is a need to be more agile in their application development and maintenance. However, installation of these new development and test systems is not easy and can incur higher infrastructure cost. The DevOps approach will show you how to virtualize CICS DPL and MQ based services in order to speed up the development process.

The DevOps Approach: Multiplatform Deployment with Urban Code for System z
We will demonstrate the value of UrbanCode in Multi-Tier environment, helping the rapid feedback of DevOps continuous delivery in agile development. You will see how UrbanCode can integrate with existing Software Configuration Management (SCM) products without disrupting the existing build process.. In this demo we will demonstrate a composite application and deployment to two environments: 1. Deploy the server component to COBOL/CICS on z/OS. 2. Deploy the client mobile component to an IBM Worklight Server under Windows . We also show the integration of Rational Team Concert (RTC), with UrbanCode Deploy as an example for both environments.

The DevOps Approach: Mainframe Unit Testing with RDz zUnit
Rational Developer for System z offers the capability to generate and run unit tests for COBOL & PLI mainframe programs. We will demonstrate that capability.

Discover How to Revitalize Your Business Critical COBOL Applications and Reduce the Cost of Running Them
COBOL may be over 50 years old, but IBM is still investing significantly in Enterprise COBOL for z/OS. In this session, join us to learn more about the advancements made in the newest release of COBOL for the mainframe: Enterprise COBOL for z/OS, V5 New optimization technology introduced in Enterprise COBOL for z/OS, V5, allows, for the first time, the compiler to generate code that fully leverages the capabilities of the zEnterprise architecture. The applications produced use CPU resources, and run in less time, therefore decreasing the cost to running them. Enhancements, such as improved support for XML generation and parsing, new Unicode character handling routines, and support for unbounded tables and groups, will improve the productivity of COBOL developers. The session will also cover what's new since the general availability of V5 such as the return of XMLPARSE(COMPAT), and other new options to ease migration from earlier versions, as well as the latest news on its next release.

8. Enabling the Mobile Enterprise

Traditional Systems of Record, z/OS applications, have been in place for decades and rely on very mature development and deployment processes. Over the years, organizations have reduced the frequency of new releases that add new capabilities to Systems of Record to contain risk. IBM Operational Decision Manager (ODM) provides a better, more responsive way to modernize and manage business rules embedded in multiple Systems of Record (z/OS and non-z/OS).

This session demonstrates how developers can access these features and functions using IBM developed GUI interfaces based on Eclipse and the Liberty Profile. Tools covered include Fault Analyzer (Web Browser, Eclipse, and Liberty Profile interfaces), File Manager (Eclipse interface), Debug Tool (Eclipse Interface), and Coverage Analytics (Eclipse and Liberty Profile interfaces).

Developing, deploying, and managing applications for the Enterprise with WebSphere Liberty Profile on z Systems
In 2014 IBM introduced a strategy for continuous delivery of new capabilities in WebSphere Application Server Liberty Profile. The WebSphere Application Server Liberty Profile is a complementary feature of the WebSphere Application Server (Z and non-Z) and CICS Transaction Server. Join this session to walk through the process of creating a WebSphere Liberty application in Eclipse, packaging the configuration, then exporting, installing, and running it on z Systems. Both z/OS and Linux on z runtime environments will be shown. New features, like the new Remote Server support for Liberty applications using the WebSphere Application Server Liberty Profile Tools for Eclipse, will be demonstrated.

Implementing Java Batch under the WebSphere Liberty Profile
Organizations are faced with a dual challenge – maintaining 24x7 uptime for on-line processing systems coupled with processing ever increasing data volumes in an ever diminishing “batch window”. IBM can help your organization achieve continuous interleaving of batch and interactive (OLTP) processes, and reuse assets written in Java, COBOL, PL/I, C/C++ etc. rather than re-writing or “re-platforming” these assets. IBM Advanced Message Security (AMS) is a solution that provides security for both message integrity (the message has not been modified during transport) and privacy (the message contents can only be read by the authorized user). In this session learn about and gain firsthand experience working with the AMS product. AMS processes will be explained in detail and the steps used to configure and use AMS on z/OS and a distributed queue manager will be demonstrated.

Unleash CICS business critical data locked in VSAM
Data Analytics help organizations understand their customers and anticipate their future behavior and needs.
