Bill Lang, Managing Director, Promontory Financial Group

Bill Lang

Bill is an authority on financial risk management, quantitative analysis, and bank supervision and advises Promontory clients on stress testing, model validation, risk measurement, and capital planning.

He previously spent 13 years at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, where he most recently led its supervision of banking organizations. Bill was a major contributor to the Federal Reserve Board’s Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review and led the development and implementation of the review’s model-validation program. He also co-chaired the risk committee for systemically important banks, and created and led the Federal Reserve’s quantitative group responsible for stress-testing modeling and Basel II analysis of consumer credit. Before leading supervision, Bill was the Philadelphia Fed’s chief examinations officer. He earlier spent nine years at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, where he served as an economist. He was the OCC’s director of special studies, a unit that analyzed public-policy issues tied to new technology used in the banking industry.

BJ Sanford, Managing Director, Promontory Financial Group

BJ Sanford

B.J. specializes in the interaction of financial regulation with business strategy and industry innovation. He helps financial services firms understand and respond to changes in their regulatory environment, and assists them with regulatory applications, business plans, and gap remediation in connection with strategic initiatives. In addition to advising traditional banking organizations, B.J. regularly works with non-traditional and innovative financial services companies, including those straddling the boundary between bank and non-bank. Before joining Promontory, B.J. was an attorney at the law firm of Covington & Burling, where he advised clients on a broad range of financial services regulatory matters. He served as regulatory counsel in connection with mergers, acquisitions, charter conversions, and other transactions.

Heather Gentile, Director of Regulatory Offerings, IBM

Heather Gentile

As director of regulatory offerings within IBM’s Watson Financial Services division, Heather is responsible for product strategy of regulatory solutions within IBM’s GRC portfolio. During the past 18 years, she has specialized in developing solutions to optimize regulatory compliance initiatives and the need for risk and compliance automation in financial services. Prior to joining IBM, Heather was responsible for overseeing the compliance analytics division of regulatory solutions at Wolters Kluwer. She received her undergraduate degree from Bryant University in Business Administration and her MBA from the University of Massachusetts.
