Leveraging Security Analytics to Improve Your Situational Awareness (September 26th, 2013; 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM)

"If You See Something, Say Something”, the motto of a recent DHS situational awareness campaign, is enough of a challenge on the local level where citizens and law enforcement can actually “see” their environment. What happens when the situation or mission is national or international in time and space? What if situational awareness is hidden across mountains of structured, unstructured, real-time and legacy data assets? What if suspicious activities and malicious behavior is spread across the innocuous day to day activities of hundreds or thousands of employees? What if proactive and preemptive security is 100% dependent on the right answers right now, as our domestic and international adversaries continually find new and ingenious electronic and human methods to defeat security and exploit critical systems both internally and externally.

In this session IBM experts will discuss our comprehensive approach leveraging a deep portfolio of security analytics to improve situational awareness at the federal mission level, and how mission planners can harness the power of Big Data through advanced security, predictive and entity analytics as a preemptive defense from external and internal threats.
