Overview

IBM Lotus Web Content Management 6.1.5 Feature Pack adds additional features on top of the base Lotus Web Content Management 6.1.0.3 platform. The benefit of this Feature Pack is that it allows you to add additional features without requiring you to move to a major new version of Lotus Web Content Management.

This release includes templates for blogs and wikis that allows the lines of business owners to quickly embed social software capabilities into their Web sites. This makes the Web site more engaging. As an example, blogging features can be used to promote thoughts on certain products and capabilities, and can easily be made available to employees or customers. Wikis are the easiest template-based Web sites that you can take advantage to easily collaborate between people and gives you the power to create, update, or delete content on sites.

You get support for WebDAV, a standard that allows users to edit and manage files collaboratively that reside on remote servers. This capability enhances the ease-of-use for authors by enabling them to create content and templates using third-party tools such as Dreamweaver. You can take advantage of the existing design and layouts that Dreamweaver provides to create the look and feel of the published content.

Out-of-the-box features such as Document Picker deliver integration capabilities with Document Management systems such as FileNet, IBM Content Manager, and Quickr. Using a single Web User Interface, you can easily integrate with these Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions, thereby, leveraging existing investments to reduce integration costs.

You get updates to the previously delivered Web Content Rendering Portlet JSR 286 specification for greatly improved performance and a better visitor experience to your Web sites.

Web Content Integrator is another feature that allows you to consume content from any content repository that is capable of producing feeds, including third-party Web sites, existing Web content repositories, and even ECM solutions. This will enable you to use Lotus Web Content Management as a single Web site publishing system to manage the Web customer experience for different content types.

Improvements to Syndication reporting help speed resolution of content syndication issues thus reducing the cost to maintain and publish Web site content. Additionally, you get capabilities that allow you to capture site analytics metrics and data that can be used to identify and publish targeted content that improves the Web site visitor experience.

IBM Lotus Web Content Management 6.1.5 enhancements

Web site analytics

  • Improves the quality of site visitors with the ability to analyze the visiting and content patterns.
  • Extends the relationship of WebSphere® Portal with Web site analytic solutions to Lotus Web Content Management Web sites. The site analytics allow administrators to turn on the insertion of appropriate scripts onto portal pages or individual portlets (including the Lotus Web Content Management rendering portlet).

Rich text editor

  • Adds Ephox EditLive! rich text editor. It is the market-leading rich text editor, with significant enhancements providing rich desktop word processing tool capabilities such as advanced table editing as well as linking to the Web Content Management style sheets, role-based control over the rich text editor features, accessibility support, and more. In this release, the installation of EditLive is automated thus reducing the need to spend additional time and resources in using the new editor. No additional installation is required for the Ephox EditLive!

Templates and Lotus Web Content Management pages

  • Define Portal pages with Web Content Management and then use these templates when creating a new portal page. You do not have to add the Lotus Web Content Management portlets to the page after defining the page.
  • Link a portal page with to a site area and the portlets on the page to automatically pick up the page context.
  • Remove additional steps required to link each individual portlet to a site area.
  • Can deliver useful templates including blog, wiki, and simple applications that incorporate common social networking functions such as rating and comments.
  • Includes templates for blogs and wikis that allows the lines of business owners to quickly embed social software capabilities into their Web sites. This makes the Web site more engaging. As an example, blogging features can be used to promote thoughts on certain products and capabilities, and can easily be made available to employees or customers. Wikis are the easiest template-based Web sites where you can take advantage of the power to easily collaborate between people and give them the power to create, update, or delete content on sites.

Enterprise Content Management (ECM) support in Web Content Management

  • Provides integration with Lotus Quickr, IBM Content Manager, and IBM FileNet.
  • Creates links in Lotus Web Content Management pointing to documents in those repositories; uploads documents from those repositories into Lotus Web Content Management; serves them at runtime from Lotus Web Content Management.
  • Displays live feed from document repository:
    • Via personalization resource collections
    • Can filter and sort the items in portal
    • Can define the look and feel in portal
  • Controlled display of enterprise content with a single Web site.

Web Content Integrator

  • Allows "ingestion" of external content (from other sites, other content management systems, and repositories) via a feed.
  • Lets you configure the usage of the feeds and mapping the feed parameters to content elements within Web Content Management, enabling the automatic import of content from other sources.
  • Protects investment in multiple content repositories yet provides for a single source for managing content that is required for publishing on a Web site.

Large file handling

  • Supports documents and other binary files up to 512 MB, which you can use to store large documents, audio recordings, and videos for a more engaging Web site experience.

WebDAV for Lotus Web Content Management

  • Extends the ability to author content by providing support for WebDAV, a standard that allows users to edit and manage files collaboratively that reside on remote servers. You can read content in a list, similar to the familiar Windows® Explorer format. This not only facilitates easy creation of components in a drag-and-drop like manner, but also updates all downloadable data, for example, download an image, modify it, and store it back (same for rich text) and meta data files are stored back as meta data of the corresponding objects as described in the XML.
  • Leverages applications such as Adobe® Dreamweaver for creating the look and feel of the published content.

Syndication reporting

  • Provides new view within the Administration section of the User Interface that allows site administrators to view all items awaiting syndication. This can be used to isolate any errors.

Enhanced Lotus Web Content Management rendering portlets

  • Based on the JSR-286 specification, and provides several enhancements to the display of Web Content Management content with WebSphere Portal.
  • Delivers performance improvements including the removal of session information, optimization of rendering logic, access control scalability improvements, and the ability to utilize portlet fragment caching.

Charge metrics definitions

Processor Value Unit (PVU)

Processor Value Unit (PVU) is a unit of measure by which this software product can be licensed. PVU entitlements are based on processor technology (defined within the PVU table* by processor vendor, brand, type and model number). IBM continues to define a processor, for purposes of PVU-based licensing, to be each processor core on a chip. Each software product has a unique price per PVU. To determine the total cost of deploying an individual software product in a specific hardware environment, you must take the following steps:

  1. For each processor core in the hardware environment on which the software product is to be licensed, determine the PVU requirement based on its processor technology per the PVU table*.
  2. Add the PVU requirements for all processor cores in the hardware environment.
  3. Multiply the software product's price per PVU by the total number of PVUs required as determined in step 2 above.

PVU entitlements are specific to a software product and may not be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with PVU entitlements of another software product.

Unless you have deployed eligible sub-capacity products according to the sub-capacity* terms, you must obtain PVU Proof of Entitlements (PoEs) for the maximum number of activated** physical processor cores in the hardware environment made available to or managed by the software product. This is also referred to as full capacity licensing.

* For information regarding PVU and sub-capacity licensing, including the latest PVU table, visit

http://www.ibm.com/software/lotus/passportadvantage/pvu_licensing_for_customers.html

** Activated processor cores are physical processor cores that are available for use in a server. They include processor cores:

  • That are activated (available for use) when the server is shipped by the manufacturer
  • That are activated subsequently through activation codes purchased from the server manufacturer by the customer
  • Whose capacity can be limited by the customer through virtualization technologies, operating system commands and BIOS settings

VU Value Unit

VU Value Unit is the unit of measure by which this program is licensed. VU Value Unit entitlements are based on the quantity of a specific designated measurement, either users or resources, for the given program. A Proof of Entitlement (PoE) must be obtained for the appropriate number of VU Value Units required for your environment as defined by the specific program terms. The VU Value Unit entitlements are specific to the program and may not be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with VU Value Unit entitlements of another program. To understand these benefits of VU Value Unit licensing, and to determine how many VU Value Units to obtain for the program, contact your IBM representative.

IBM Electronic Services
Bottom rule

IBM has transformed its delivery of hardware and software support services to help you achieve higher system availability. Electronic Services is a Web-enabled solution that offers an exclusive, no-additional-charge enhancement to the service and support available for IBM servers. These services are designed to provide the opportunity for greater system availability with faster problem resolution and preemptive monitoring. Electronic Services comprises two separate, but complementary, elements: Electronic Services news page and Electronic Services Agent.

The Electronic Services news page is a single Internet entry point that replaces the multiple entry points traditionally used to access IBM Internet services and support. The news page enables you to gain easier access to IBM resources for assistance in resolving technical problems.

The Electronic Service Agent™ is no-additional-charge software that resides on your server. It monitors events and transmits system inventory information to IBM on a periodic, client-defined timetable. The Electronic Service Agent automatically reports hardware problems to IBM. Early knowledge about potential problems enables IBM to deliver proactive service that may result in higher system availability and performance. In addition, information collected through the Service Agent is made available to IBM service support representatives when they help answer your questions or diagnose problems. Installation and use of IBM Electronic Service Agent for problem reporting enables IBM to provide better support and service for your IBM server.
