Overview
IBM products based on IBM's industry-leading MQSeries (R) software help you address Business Integration issues quickly and economically. MQSeries Business Integration helps companies maximize e-business opportunities by leveraging existing resources to improve speed-to-market. It helps companies anticipate IT changes as business climates change.

The family of Business Integration solutions, based around IBM's award-winning MQSeries software, consists of:
MQSeries, the undisputed leader in Message-Oriented Middleware. The base MQSeries product connects any application, or system, to any other, reliably. You can think of application building blocks which can be connected to share information any way you like.
MQSeries Integrator, powerful message brokering that centralizes knowledge of the enterprise (like business rules and application data formats) in a central hub. It makes it much quicker and simpler to distribute data relating to business events, and integrate applications to build new business.
MQSeries Workflow aligns and integrates your organization's resources and capabilities with your business strategies, accelerating process flow, cutting costs, eliminating errors, and improving workgroup productivity. Workflow supports Business Process Reengineering: use it to design, refine, document, and control your processes, while you can focus on the work at hand.
MQSeries for AS/400 (R) V4.2.1, is not available on all three tiers, but participates with other MQSeries family members to form part of an integrated solution.
In introducing Version 4.2.1 of MQSeries for AS/400, IBM makes MQSeries Middleware available on the AS/400 stack and as a shrinkwrap package. The shrinkwrap package provides wider availability, simplified purchasing, and customer choice from multiple fulfillment sources.
The software will run on both V4.2 and V4.3 of OS/400 (R). A new dead-letter-queue handler is now included with the many new functions already in MQSeries for AS/400 V4.2.
In addition, System Management Enhancements will be available at no extra charge. Included with the MQSeries shrinkwrap package is:

MQSeries for AS/400 V4.2.1 offers new function and is available both on the AS/400 stack, and as a shrinkwrap package; providing wider availability, simplified purchasing, and customer choice from multiple fulfillment sources.
A new dead-letter-queue handler is included to add to the many new functions already in V4.2, such as fast messages, and distribution lists.
In addition, System Management Enhancements will be available at no extra charge. These are separately orderable for customers of the stack product and V4.2 customers.

IBM's architected Business Integration offering has three components, MQSeries for reliable interconnect over more than 25 platforms, MQIntegrator, to simplify message transformation, rules and intelligent routing, and MQSeries Workflow to leverage corporate effectiveness through optimized use of staff and computing resources. These products liberate the burden of IT shops, allowing them to be market driven and responsive to the rate of market change. The products specialize in ease of deployment, reducing the cost of ownership, and minimizing the user and IT skill required.
A graphical build tool and a transactional quality run-time provide for superior user interaction. Staff may now be deployed on activities where they add maximum value, such as customer service. Their expertise and knowledge can focus on the important business activities rather than be distracted by the routine. The routine is taken care of by machine interaction.
Workflow and messaging are key to corporate responsiveness. MQSeries Integrator: MQSeries Integrator software enables integration of applications and systems into robust, flexible, and scalable information networks. Based on MQSeries messaging and queuing capabilities, MQSeries Integrator provides intelligent message routing that directs data according to conditions set by the business, and message formatting that enables applications to exchange information. Graphical user interfaces allow users to perform integration tasks quickly and easily. Pre-configured templates for major packaged applications and e-business extensions are part of the function.
An initial version, MQIntegrator, is generally available now from New Era of Networks (NASDAQ: NEON) and is marketed jointly by IBM. IBM will continue to add Business Integration capabilities to MQSeries Integrator and provide an infrastructure for IBM partners to offer additional functionality.
MQSeries Workflow: MQSeries Workflow is a workflow management middleware offering that automates workflow between applications, and automates business processes involving people and applications to give organizations more control of their business activities. MQSeries Workflow helps you in daily business operations, planning, and management, to align and integrate resources and applications, to improve efficiency, and to gain higher market share. In addition, it enables the design of applications tailored to your business.
MQSeries Clients: An MQSeries client gives access to the MQSeries programming environment without installing the full queue-manager function. It is for use only with a client-enabled MQSeries server products, such as MQSeries for AS/400 V4.2.1.
The MQSeries client capability enables an application running on a client workstation to access an MQSeries queue manager on a server; client function is essentially a remote interface to an MQSeries queue manager.
MQSeries for AS/400 is client-enabled, and can accept connections from MQSeries clients, but there is no client that runs on OS/400 itself.
MQSeries client software, for use by an MQ (TM) client application run at an MQ client machine can be copied from the IBM Transaction Processing SupportPac (TM) library, in the form of a Software Developer Kit, for use as needed.
Candle Command Center Admin Pac for MQSeries: Included with the MQSeries shrinkwrap package is a selection of Candle solutions for testing MQSeries applications, configuring MQSeries networks, and managing MQ-based computing enterprises.
Customers of the stack product can obtain this by ordering the package separately. This package is also available to existing V4R2 customers. Refer to Ordering Information section for the shrinkwrap product.
The Candle Command Center Admin Pac for MQSeries includes:
- A fully functioning version of PQEdit, an application testing tool
that helps speed applications to production.
- A single-user version of Candle Command Center for MQSeries
Configuration, a product that simplifies configuration and
management of MQSeries networks.
- A customized version of Candle Command Center for MQSeries, an availability management solution that generates monitoring reports on MQSeries networks and applications.
Year 2000
These products are Year 2000 ready. When used in accordance with its associated documentation, it is capable of correctly processing, providing, and/or receiving date data within and between the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, provided all other products (for example, software, hardware, and firmware) used with the product properly exchange accurate date data with it.
The maintenance end date for this Year-2000-ready product is January 31, 2001.

MQSeries Business Integration consists of three offerings under the MQSeries brand:
- MQSeries for secure and reliable communication of application
messages over a wide-range of platforms
- MQIntegrator for transformation and routing of application message
contents as transmitted via MQSeries:
It is optimized for high-volume, in-storage transformation of messages. It is very useful in environments where many applications exchange information among each other, each on requiring slightly different message formats.
- MQSeries Workflow for integration of application components via
predefined workflow models:
This is a much more structured, though complex approach to integration. This is less about message transformation and routing between applications, but more about the integration of applications for different tasks, into a cohesive business process. MQSeries can automate the execution of activities, be they manual human tasks, user input into an application, or automatic flow of information into a backend transaction. It maintains state information about the process, for routing decisions, monitoring, and auditing purposes.
MQIntegrator intercepts MQ messages transforming and routing the message contents based on information stored in a rules database.
MQSeries Workflow uses MQSeries messaging for the communication between the MQSeries Workflow clients and servers. In addition, MQSeries applications can be used:
- MQSeries Workflow processes can be started by an MQSeries
application program that listens to an MQSeries queue, initiates
the MQSeries Workflow process container with message data and
starts the execution of the MQSeries Workflow process template.
- You can develop MQSeries Workflow program activities that put and get container data of MQSeries Workflow activities to and from an MQSeries message queue for communication to applications on additional platforms.

There is a full U.S. English set of BookManager (R) files on the media.
MQSeries unlicensed publications are also offered in displayable softcopy form on an IBM Online Books CD-ROM collection kit, the Transaction Processing and Data Collection (SK2T-0730).
Manuals can be displayed with the IBM BookManager Library Reader (TM) licensed programs that are provided on the collection kit. Terms and conditions for use of the machine-readable files are shipped with the files.
Obtaining the Kit
Note: The kit is updated on a regular basis but not necessarily at the same time as availability of a new product or publication release.
Copies of the CD-ROM can be obtained for a fee through the System Library Subscription Service (SLSS) or PUBORDER.
Open Blueprint (R): With MQSeries, distributed parts of an application or applications can communicate by exchanging messages without waiting for a reply. Its implementation is consistent with the messaging and queuing function described in IBM's Open Blueprint. It provides the messaging and queuing interface from IBM to facilitate open, distributed, multivendor interoperability.
MQSeries' consistent, cross-platform API is the Message Queue Interface (MQI), a component of the Open Blueprint.
MQSeries is a member of the Message-Oriented Messaging Association (MOMA) and the Electronic Messaging Association (EMA).
Specified Operating Environment
Hardware Requirements: MQSeries for AS/400, V4.2.1 runs on all AS/400 Advanced Series processing systems that support OS/400 (R) Version 4 Release 2 or 3, and have enough processor storage to meet the combined requirements of MQSeries, the operating system, and user applications.
Software Requirements: OS/400, Version 4 Release 2 or 3.
If CICS (R) for OS/400 (program number 5769-DFH) is installed, MQSeries can interoperate with CICS for OS/400 transactions, and can link them with non-CICS environments.
Connectivity: Network protocols supported are SNA LU6.2 and TCP/IP.
MQSeries Clients: An MQSeries client is a part of an MQSeries product that can be installed without installing the full queue-manager function and is for use with a client-enabled MQSeries server product.
The MQSeries client capability enables an application running on a client workstation to access an MQSeries queue manager on a server; client function is essentially a remote interface to an MQSeries queue manager.
This remote interface is linked to the server via an MQI channel, which is bidirectional (both sending and receiving requests) and synchronous. Through this, a user can invoke a locally run MQSeries application, calling the client library file, to connect (via MQCONN) to an MQSeries queue manager at the server and consequently participate in MQSeries commercial messaging in cross-platform and multiprotocol environments.
MQSeries for AS/400 is client-enabled and can accept connections from MQSeries clients, but there is no client that runs on OS/400 itself.
MQSeries Clients Available on the Internet: MQSeries client software, for use by an MQ (TM) client application run at an MQ client machine can be copied from the IBM Transaction Processing SupportPac (TM) library, in the form of a Software Developer Kit, for use as needed. MQSeries client software may reside at the server, at a file server, on the client disk space, or be dynamically copied to the client as needed.
MQSeries client software is available at no charge and is subject to the terms and conditions of the IPLA and license information defined when requesting the clients on the Internet. Unlimited use-authorization is included with the Capacity-Unit charge unit applied at server installation.
Client software provides a remote interface to an MQSeries server. Client support does not result in distributed coordination of units of work. The Windows (TM) 3.1 client can operate under Windows 3.1, Windows 95/Windows 98, or within the WIN-OS/2 (R) environment under OS/2 (R). Other clients are available.
There is no MQSeries for AS/400 client offering, however this platform is client-enabled for other clients.

Planning Information
The program package comes with a minimum entitlement use-authorization of two Capacity-Units. Each machine that MQSeries for AS/400, V4.2.1, is installed on requires a minimum of two Capacity-Unit use-authorization.
Further Capacity-Unit use-authorizations for high processor groups are available separately.
Customer Responsibilities: The customer must provide the minimum hardware and software environments in which the licensed programs operate.
The customer must identify the machines on which they will install MQSeries.
Problem determination (PD) is a customer responsibility. PD is an assessment of whether a problem is caused by hardware or software. PD is complete only when the cause of the problem is identified. This assessment includes examination of available symptoms using the PD procedures documented in the product.
Problem source identification (PSI) is a customer responsibility. PSI begins when software is determined to be the source of the problem. PSI includes tracing the source of the program to a host system control program (SCP), an application program, or another source. Assisting the customer with PSI is an IBM service and support responsibility.
Packaging
Program Package: The following packaging information refers to MQSeries for AS/400 as a shrinkwrap package.
MQSeries for AS/400, V4.2.1 is shipped on CD-ROM.
Translated language versions are packaged separately, but the U.S. English version covers all NLS-enabled versions which are not translated, but are enabled for use in different countries.
For the shrinkwrapped product a second CD-ROM is included containing client program code for all MQSeries Version 5.0 platforms, DOS, Windows 3.1, and Windows 95/Windows 98 workstations, and Java and machine-readable information for all supported translated national languages.

Security, Auditability, and Control
The announced program uses the security and auditability features of the workstation operating system.
In addition, MQSeries implements a level of security including access control of queues and authorization identification between message queue managers.
The customer is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of security features, administrative procedures, and appropriate controls in application systems and communication facilities.

The pricing structure is processor-based. Upgrades from previous MQSeries for AS/400 stack products are available.

5755-AS5 feature number for delivery of 5769-MQ2 is 2524.
5733-A21 (Shrinkwrap): MQSeries for AS/400 shrinkwrap implements a new and flexible pricing structure to reflect use on the wide-range of machines covered by these products. The new pricing structure simplifies the development and management of complex applications, particularly for large organizations.
The capacity unit structure introduced in V4.2 is extended to be based on the size of the processor in use. A two-pack Capacity-Unit Use Authorization is included with the program package, further Capacity-Units must be acquired separately, as required.
Upgrades from the V4.2 shrinkwrap product are available to software subscription customers.
Note: Upgrades from 04L1209 (shrinkwrap) V4R2 are only available to Passport Advantage Software Subscription customers.
Candle Admin Pac: V4.2 customers and V4.2.1 stack customers are entitled to order the Candle Admin Pac separately. This pack is also available to customers of the MQSeries Version 5.0 products if they have the previous level pack or none at all.

Candle Command Center Admin Pac License Agreement: PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING TERMS AND CONDITIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE OPENING THE PACKAGE OR DOWNLOADING, INSTALLING OR USING THE SOFTWARE. DOING THESE THINGS INDICATES YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS, PROMPTLY EITHER RETURN THIS PACKAGE UNOPENED TO YOUR SUPPLIER OR HALT THE DOWNLOAD PROCESS.
- License. In this license agreement ("License Agreement"), Candle
Corporation ("Candle") grants you, the purchaser of the license
rights granted by this agreement ("You"), a non-exclusive,
non-transferable, limited term license to use one machine readable
object code copy of the accompanying software ("Software") and one
copy of the included documentation ("Documentation") for the
License Period indicated below (i) for your own internal use and
benefit only, (ii) by a single user, and (iii) not for providing
data processing services to third parties. This License
Agreement, the Software and the Documentation and any copies,
modifications, updates or fixes are referred to as the "Licensed
Product". If the Licensed Product has been supplied as part of a
packaged offering together with another product or products, You
are hereby granted the same number of licenses to use the Licensed
Product as the number of licenses which you acquired to use the
other products with which it is supplied. If You have obtained
multiple licenses to the Licensed Product, the terms of this
Agreement apply to each license. For each license You obtain to
the Licensed Product, You may make a reasonable number of copies
for the purpose of backup. You may not otherwise copy or modify
the Licensed Product. You may not release the results of any
performance or functional evaluation or benchmarking of the
Licensed Product to any third party without prior written approval
of Candle for each such release.
Some or all components of the Licensed Product may be activated through the use of an Activation Key. Refer to the "readme" file accompanying the Licensed Product for activation instructions and information.
- Title. All rights to and in the Licensed Product, including but
not limited to patents, copyrights and trade secrets rights belong
to Candle and Candle holds title to each copy of the Licensed
Product.
- Nondisclosure. You shall not disclose, transfer or distribute the
Licensed Product to others, and this Agreement shall automatically
terminate in the event of such disclosure, transfer or
distribution. Such prohibition on disclosure shall not apply to
disclosures by You to your agents, contractors or employees
provided (i) such disclosures are reasonably necessary to your
authorized use of the Licensed Product and (ii) You take
reasonable steps to ensure that the Licensed Product is not
disclosed by Your agents, contractors or employees in
contravention of this Agreement. You shall not reverse assemble
or reverse compile the Licensed Product or in any way attempt to
obtain the source code for the Licensed Product, and this
Agreement shall automatically terminate in the event of such
action or attempted action.
- Term and Termination. This License Agreement is effective for a
License Period (from the date of installation to
February 15, 2001), unless earlier terminated. Your license will
terminate at the end of the License Period, and some or all
components of the Licensed Product may cease functioning. Candle
may terminate this License Agreement at any time if You breach any
of the terms and conditions. Upon termination for any reason, You
shall either return the Licensed Product to Candle or delete or
destroy all copies of the Licensed Product and certify such in
writing to Candle. All provisions of this License Agreement
relating to disclaimers of warranties, limitation of liability,
remedies or damages, and Candle's proprietary rights shall survive
termination of this Agreement for any reason.
- Exclusion of Warranty. YOU AGREE THAT CANDLE IS PROVIDING THE
LICENSED PRODUCT TO YOU "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND,
EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE
IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR
PURPOSE. THE ENTIRE RISK AS TO THE QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE OF THE
LICENSED PRODUCT IS WITH YOU, AND YOU AGREE TO HOLD CANDLE
HARMLESS AGAINST ANY AND ALL RELATED CLAIMS. IN ADDITION, ANY
OTHER SOFTWARE AND ANY OTHER HARDWARE FURNISHED WITH OR
ACCOMPANYING THE LICENSED PRODUCT IS NOT WARRANTED BY CANDLE.
SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW LIMITATIONS ON THE LENGTH OF AN
IMPLIED WARRANTY, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
THIS WARRANTY GIVES YOU SPECIFIED RIGHTS WHICH VARY FROM
JURISDICTION TO JURISDICTION.
- Limitation of Liability. IN NO EVENT WILL CANDLE BE LIABLE FOR
ANY DIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL, OR INDIRECT DAMAGES,
INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY LOSS OF DATA OR LOSS OF PROFITS,
OR LOST SAVINGS, ARISING OUT OF THE USE, OR INABILITY TO USE THE
SOFTWARE OR DOCUMENTATION EVEN IF CANDLE HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE
POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES OR FOR ANY CLAIM BY ANY THIRD PARTY.
IN NO EVENT SHALL CANDLE BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES BECAUSE SOME
JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF
LIABILITY FOR CONSEQUENTIAL OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES. SOME
JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW FOR THE LIMITATION OF LIABILITY, SO THE

- Restricted Rights. Where the United States Government or any
agency thereof is a License or end user hereunder, the following
additional terms apply: The Licensed Product is provided with
RESTRICTED RIGHTS. Use, duplication or disclosure by the
Government is subject to restrictions set herein and/or by
Government Rights in Data Clause(s), as applicable (including but
not limited to DFARS 252.227-7013(c)(ii) and FAR

- Export Control. You agree to comply with all export and re-export
restrictions and regulations imposed by the government of the

further agree that the Licensed Product shall not be exported or
re-exported; (i) to any countries included in prohibited Country
Groups of the U.S. Export Administration Regulations, (ii) as
prohibited under such Regulations at the time of export or
re-export, (iii) or delivered to national citizens of such
prohibited Country Groups or (iv) in violation of this Agreement.
Candle may terminate this Agreement in the event that its
continuance or You are in violation of U.S. export regulations or
related laws. This section shall survive termination, expiration
or cancellation of this Agreement or any license hereunder.
- General. Any attempt to sublicense, assign or transfer any of the
rights, duties, or obligations hereunder is void. This License
Agreement shall be governed and interpreted under the laws of the
State of California, United States of America, without regard to
conflicts of law provisions, and excluding the United Nations
Convention for Contracts for the International Sale of Good. The
Licensed Product may include object coded licensed to Candle by a
third party which is a direct and intended beneficiary of this
Agreement and may enforce it directly against Licensee. You are
only granted the right to use the run-time version such object
code. The Licensed Product is not intended for use in online
control of aircraft, air traffic, aircraft navigation, aircraft
communications, rocket or ballistic missile systems or space
vehicles, in the design, construction, operations or maintenance
of any nuclear or chemical processing facility, or related in any
way to chemical or biological weapons, missiles, or explosives,
and You warrant you will not use the Licensed Product for such
purposes.
- Country Specific Legal Terms. The following terms apply only to
Software and Licensed Products that are licensed for use in the
referenced country, where the referenced country is also the
Governing Law.
Australia, To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, subject to sections 5 and 6 and any provision of this Agreement, the limited warranties given by Candle herein are exclusive and are in lieu of all other warranties and conditions whatsoever, whether express, implied or statutory. Notwithstanding any other provision herein, if anything arising out of or connected with this Agreement constitutes a supply of goods or services to a consumer, then You may have the benefit of certain rights or remedies pursuant tot the Trade Practices Act and similar state and territory laws in Australia, in respect of which liability may not be excluded or restricted and nothing in this Agreement will have the effect of so excluding or restricting those rights or remedies. Insofar as such liability may not be excluded, then to the maximum extent permitted by law such liability is limited, at Candle's exclusive option, to either replacement of the Licensed Product or correction of defects in the Licensed Product. Nothing in this Agreement is intended to prejudice, or have the effect of prejudicing any rights Candle may have under Australian law or of the States of Australia which cannot legally be excluded or restricted and the terms of this Agreement must be read accordingly.
Austria, Germany and Switzerland. The limitations and exclusions specified in sections 5 and 6 in the Agreement will not apply to damages caused by Candle with intention or gross negligence. Candle is liable for assured characteristics.
Indonesia. To the extent necessary to implement the termination provisions of this Agreement, each of the parties hereby waives any right or obligation, it or the other party may have under any applicable law or regulation, including without limitation Article 1266 of the Indonesian Civil Code, to request or obtain the approval, order, decision or judgment of any court to terminate this Agreement.
Ireland. No statement in this Agreement shall affect the statutory right of consumers.
Japan. In addition to Candle's express disclaimers of liability in the Agreement. Candle is not liable for damages which have arisen through special circumstances.
New Zealand. Where products or services are not acquired for the purposes of a business as defined in the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, the limitations of liability in this Agreement are subject to the limitations in that Act.
United Kingdom. The limitation of liability in this Agreement will not apply to claims for death or personal injury or physical damage to Your tangible property caused by the negligence of Candle or to any breach of Candle's obligations implied by Section 12 of the Sales of Goods Act 1979 or Section 2 of the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982.
Upgrades: You can upgrade to the Candle Center Management Pac for MQSeries -- fully functioning versions of the two Candle Command Center products with complete support of all three products, available from Candle.

The statement of service included with the program describes this service.
Program services offer a method of reporting code-related problems. Problems can be reported via e-mail, fax, or U.S. Mail, and will be responded to using the same method as submitted. IBM will respond to customer inquiries within two business days of e-mail or fax receipt, and seven days of mail receipt advising of the problem disposition. If the problem reported is not known to be a code-related problem, the customer will be informed that IBM will continue to work on it for a fee if the customer does not have a support contract. If the problem is determined to be caused by an error in IBM code, the fee will be waived.

If the program is designated to a processor in a group for which no charge is listed above, the charge of the next higher group listed applies. For movement to a machine in a higher group, an upgrade charge equal to the difference in the then current charges between the two groups will apply. For movement to a machine in a lower group, there will be no adjustment or refund of charges paid.
