ImagePlus VisualInfo (VI) for AS/400 is a client/server software product designed to replace paper document processing with image processing for greater efficiency, reliability, and security. It is IBM's document imaging and work management system for the AS/400 and a strategic member of the IBM EDMSuite. VI for AS/400 can serve the needs of a small departmental application or serve as an enterprise solution for a large corporation.
The system controls the capture, indexing, storage, and retrieval of paper documents or facsimiles as images. Documents are initially stored on AS/400 DASD and can be migrated to an optical storage system. It also provides both automated and ad-hoc work management functions.
"Out of the box" GUI clients are provided so users can quickly use the system or customers can develop a customized document management solution that includes library and information processing capabilities. One can create image, workflow, and other applications to automate and gain control of the information the enterprise processes each day.
WAF V4.1 is the host-based implementation feature of VI for AS/400. WAF offers two interfaces, either traditional AS/400 5250 emulation or host-based APIs.
This document imaging and work management system provides many time and labor savings. Automating the processing, storage, and online retrieval of papers previously handled manually offers dramatic productivity improvements. Even in geographically-dispersed enterprises, mission-critical information can be delivered to users when they need it, providing rapid response for employees and customers alike.
