IBM TotalStorage® Productivity Center V2.2 is an integrated storage infrastructure management solution designed to help simplify and automate the management of storage devices, data, and storage networks.
IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center V2.2 offers:
- New unified, capacity-based pricing across the product suite, including IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center for Data and IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center for Fabric, that were previously processor based.
- IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center for Data V2.2, combining the base IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center for Data product with IBM Tivoli® Storage Resource Manager for Chargeback and IBM Tivoli Storage Resource Manager for Databases into a single offering.
- IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center 2.2 featuring a new combined offering called IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center Standard Edition.
IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center V2.2 represents the first release of this integrated suite to include capacity-based pricing for all components of the suite. IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center for Data and IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center for Fabric are now priced, based on customer capacity, measured by terabyte. This can make it easier for customers to measure the value of these components by simplifying how they purchase this software with their IBM TotalStorage hardware purchases. It makes the pricing methodologies consistent across the product suite.
A second major enhancement of IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center V2.2 combines, into a single offering, the base product of Productivity Center for Data (announced in V2.1) with Tivoli Storage Resource Manager for Chargeback and Tivoli Storage Resource Manager for Databases. With V2.2, customers can purchase one storage resource management tool that includes the database and chargeback support previously offered separately, increasing the competitiveness of IBM's offering. Pricing reflects this change with a single price per terabyte for IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center for Data.
IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center V2.2 offers a new combined offering that combines Productivity
Center for Data, Productivity Center for Fabric, and Productivity Center for Disk. IBM TotalStorage
Productivity Center Standard Edition is a single offering with a single, reduced price per terabyte
capacity. This combined offering makes it easier to purchase IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center
with IBM TotalStorage hardware.

In addition, the functions of Tivoli Storage Resource Manager for Databases and Tivoli Storage Resource Manager for Chargeback are now included with IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center for Data V2.2.
Database support
IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center for Data can enable the user to discover problems in critical applications, quickly pinpointing the trouble spot, whether it's an individual user or specific application tablespace.
The following databases are supported:
- DB2®/UDB
- Oracle
- MS SQL Server
- Sybase
IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center for Data can allow administrators to drill down from a single large file allocated to an application to the storage details associated with the underlying data structures. By providing this link from operating system to applications through a single Web-based interface, IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center for Data can enable IT to pinpoint problems that would otherwise go undetected. For example, IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center for Data can help prevent storage downtime by predicting tablespace failure due to space allocation problems.
IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center for Data can help the user:
- Understand storage usage details behind the single large file allocated to an application
- Prevent storage downtime by predicting tablespace failure due to space allocation problems
- Reduce unnecessary space usage by finding unused space and identifying fast-growing objects
- Reduce the costs of wasted space by reporting on (Sybase) devices that may have reclaimable space due to deleted databases, then automatically triggering a reorg job to reclaim that space
- Perform capacity planning by trending storage growth of specific objects
- Identify the fastest-growing databases to better plan network migration or SAN projects
- Monitor and manage heterogeneous storage enterprise-wide, by application database, or by user from a single Web-based interface
- Enforce storage policies
- Export storage data for import into any application, such as accounting, chargeback, or spreadsheet applications
Chargeback
IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center for Data offers an end-to-end system for collecting enterprise storage usage information and generating invoices for storage costs. IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center for Data can allow administrators to provide usage information on a departmental, group, or user level, making the data owners aware of, and accountable for, their data usage. This information can be used to redirect storage costs to the departments or business units generating the data. By integrating the capabilities of storage resource management (SRM) and chargeback software, IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center for Data can deliver the ability to appropriately distribute storage costs across an organization.
With IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center for Data, the user can generate chargeback invoices or use the report-exporting feature to import storage data into the user's storage chargeback systems. IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center for Data uses storage usage information to generate these chargeback invoices. IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center for Data collects detailed information about storage usage at intervals defined by the user. This information is used not only to charge back for storage usage, but also to perform asset reporting and capacity planning, to prevent storage-related downtime, and to enforce storage policies through alerts, quotas, and constraints. And through event management, IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center for Data can help to not only find problems, but also help to fix them.
With IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center for Data, the user can create cost centers through the
creation of user, computer, or tablespace groups, allowing the user to charge back individual users
or departments. Costs can be allocated by storage usage by user, disk capacity, by computer;
tablespace, or filesystem/physical device. By associating different costs to different filesystems,
IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center for Data can enable the user to accurately account for the wide
price ranges of various physical devices.

The IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center products are priced using a managed-environment approach whereby price is determined by what is managed rather than the number and type of product components installed.
This licensing model can provide the customer flexibility to deploy these software products within its environment in a manner that can address and respond to the customer's evolving architecture. That is, as the architecture of a customer's environment changes, the customer's implementation of these products can be altered, as needed, without affecting the customer's license requirements (as long as the customer does not exceed its entitlements to the software).
Value-Based Pricing terminology definitions
IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center terabyte (TB) capacity
A terabyte capacity is each individual terabyte of storage capacity managed by the IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center products. Managed capacity for IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center for Replication includes both the source and target devices.

Pricing examples — New purchases
If the customer purchases entitlements on managed TBs that are the same for all three components of the IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center Standard Edition (Data, Disk and Fabric), they are eligible to purchase the Standard Edition.
IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center Standard Edition offers capacity-based pricing, based on one price for all three components of IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center for Data, Fabric and Disk. However, if capacities for each component are different, they can purchase entitlements based on individual standalone pricing. As managed capacity increases, customers should add entitlements to cover this additional capacity as part of their renewals.

Although the Tivoli Storage Resource Manager for Chargeback and Tivoli Storage Resource Manager for Databases products are not entitled to migrate directly to IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center for Data V2.2, if the customer's Software Maintenance for Tivoli Storage Resource Manager is current, they are entitled to migrate to IBM TotalStorage Productivity for Data V2.2 , which has the functions of Chargeback and Databases, under just the one Software Maintenance license.
Ordering information for Passport Advantage: Passport Advantage allows you to have a common anniversary date for Software Maintenance renewals, which can simplify management and budgeting for eligible new versions and releases (and related technical support) for your covered products. The anniversary date, established at the start of your Passport Advantage Agreement, will remain unchanged while your Passport Advantage Agreement remains in effect. New software purchases will initially include twelve full months of maintenance coverage. Maintenance in the second year (the first year of renewal) can be prorated to be coterminous with your common anniversary date. Thereafter, all Software Maintenance will renew at the common anniversary date and include twelve full months of maintenance.
Refer to the IBM International Passport Advantage Agreement and to the IBM Software Maintenance Handbook for specific terms relating to, and a more complete description of, technical support provided through Software Maintenance.

Software Maintenance
This software license includes Software Maintenance, previously referred to as Software Subscription and Technical Support.
Extending coverage for a total of three years from date of acquisition may be elected. Order the program number, feature number, and quantity to extend coverage for your software licenses. If maintenance has expired, specify the after license feature number.
Software Maintenance has three forms:
- A No-Charge Registration feature number for one year of Software Maintenance, designated with each new license or additional order under the One-Year Software Maintenance program ID.
- A Renewal feature number, used to renew maintenance while coverage is still current. For continuous Software Maintenance, Renewal features must be ordered prior to expiration of the original registration term of the product purchased (prior to one year from original purchase).
- An After License feature number, which is used to reinstate maintenance, if necessary, after the original registered coverage has lapsed. This feature is designated under the After License program ID.
Software Maintenance Registration
Software Maintenance for one year is provided with each order, through One-Year Software Maintenance Registration features in AAS, under the Software Maintenance program ID for the licensed program.
Order Software Maintenance Registration corresponding to the maximum Licensed terabyte capacity level purchased.
If you increase your capacity levels, your Software Maintenance capacity must be increased to correspond with the new capacity levels, at the time of the increase order.

Licensing: IBM International Program License Agreement. Proofs of Entitlement (PoE) are required for all authorized use. Part number products only, offered outside of Passport Advantage, where applicable, are license only and do not include Software Maintenance.
The following agreement applies for maintenance and does not require customer signatures:

Limited warranty applies: Yes
Warranty: This program has warranty for a minimum of one year from acquisition from IBM or authorized IBM Business Partner. The warranty provided to the customer, for at least one year from acquisition, is access to databases (read Web sites) for program information and FAQs, including any known fixes to defects, which the customer can download or obtain otherwise and install at leisure.
Money-back guarantee: If for any reason you are dissatisfied with the program, return it within 30 days from the invoice date, to the party (either IBM or its reseller) from whom you acquired it, for a refund. This applies only to your first acquisition of the program.

Software Maintenance, previously referred to as Software Subscription and Technical Support, is now included in the Passport Advantage Agreement. Installation and technical support for the products announced in this letter is provided by the Software Maintenance offering of the IBM International Passport Advantage Agreement. This fee service enhances customer productivity by providing voice and/or electronic access into the IBM support organizations.
IBM includes one year of Software Maintenance with the initial license acquisition of each program acquired. The initial period of Software Maintenance can be extended by the purchase of a renewal option.
While your Software Maintenance is in effect, IBM provides you assistance for your routine, short duration installation and usage (how-to) questions and code-related questions. IBM provides assistance via telephone and, if available, electronic access, only to your information systems (IS) technical support personnel during the normal business hours (published prime shift hours) of your IBM support center. (This assistance is not available to your end users.) IBM provides Severity 1 assistance 24 hours a day, every day of the year. For additional details, consult your IBM Software Support Guide at
Software Maintenance does not include assistance for the design and development of applications, your use of programs in other than their specified operating environment, or failures caused by products for which IBM is not responsible under this agreement.

All distributed software licenses include Software Maintenance (Software Subscription and Technical Support) for a period of 12 months from the date of acquisition, providing a streamlined way to acquire IBM software and assure technical support coverage for all licenses. Extending coverage for a total of three years from date of acquisition may be elected.
