  1. IBM® CICS application review
  2. IBM z/OS® CICS infrastructure review (module 1 is a prerequisite for this module)
  3. CICS implementation (module 2 is a prerequisite for this module)
  4. CICS application migration
  5. CICS health check

IBM Implementation Services for Parallel Sysplex Middleware - WebSphere Application Server enablement consists of three fixed price and fixed scope selectable modules:

  1. IBM WebSphere Application Server network deployment planning and design
  2. WebSphere Application Server network deployment implementation (module 1 is a prerequisite for this module)
  3. WebSphere Application Server health check

IBM Implementation Services for Parallel Sysplex Middleware - CICS enablement

Module 1: CICS application review

  • Planning meeting
  • CICS application assessment - Identify, prioritize, and assess applications
  • CICS application affinity analysis - Analyze CICS transactions within the selected applications and determine affinities between the transactions
  • Document observations and recommendations

Module 2: z/OS CICS infrastructure review

  • Module 1 is a prerequisite for this module
  • Planning meeting - Identify business requirements for CICSplex
  • Review current z/OS and CICS environment
  • Based on applications review performed in module 1, identify missing Parallel Sysplex and CICS prerequisites for the support of CICSplex deployment
  • Design CICSplex configuration
  • Document observations and recommendations

Module 3: CICS implementation

  • Module 2 is a prerequisite for this module
  • Planning meeting including CICS region planning
  • Review CICS migration approach - Identify the approach to build an initial cloned environment and future applications migration
  • Execute z/OS and CICS required configurations and CPSM (CICSplex SM) tailoring
  • Document results and recommendations

Module 4: CICS application migration

  • Planning meeting
  • Application migration and cutover
  • Verification testing
  • Document results and recommendations

Module 5: CICS health check

  • Planning meeting
  • Current CICS Overview - Identify constraints in the areas of system, performance, application and systems management
  • Document results and recommendations

Module 1: WebSphere Application Server network deployment planning and design

  • Planning meeting
  • Review business requirements for network deployment implementation
  • Review z/OS target architecture
  • Define WebSphere Application Server for z/OS target architecture
  • Define naming conventions
  • Describe implementation prerequisites
  • Document results and recommendations

Module 2: WebSphere Application Server network deployment implementation

  • Module 1 is a prerequisite for this module
  • Planning meeting
  • Verify prerequisites
  • Implement a network deployment cell
  • Create and federate nodes
  • Create a cluster of servers
  • Validate the cluster with a sample application
  • Document results and recommendations

Module 3: WebSphere Application Server health check

  • Planning meeting
  • Identify constraints in the areas of system, performance, reliability, availability, and security
  • Document results and recommendations
