Charge metric

Rocket Servergraph Professional 5725-N51 Per Node or Per Device Module or Per Monitor

Rocket Servergraph Professional pricing calculation methodology is based on cumulative tier pricing as shown below.

Licensing metric definitions, and node count examples and pricing examples

Licensing metric definitions

Node

A node or client is a unique entity of data that is defined specifically for backup. This can be physical or virtual, and is counted as the lowest common denominator among all backup applications. A node (unlike an IBM Tivoli® Storage Manager node) represents a physical or virtual machine, for example, a physical box that is separated into three virtual spaces, each separately defined for backup, would represent three nodes. However, if the same entity of data is defined to be backed up differently multiple times (for example, incremental, full, and archive on separate backup servers), it would only be counted as a single node. Essentially, a node is the end point that is being backed up by a backup application, not the backup application or server running the backup application. For clarity, a Rocket Servergraph Professional node should not be confused with an IBM Tivoli Storage Manager node, as they may or may not be the same depending on the customer's environment.

Device Module

These licenses are for integration and reporting on standalone library managers and virtual tape library devices such as EMC Data Domain, IBM ProtecTIER®, Sepaton, FalconStor, Oracle RMAN, or NetApp when acting as a backup application. Servergraph Device Module licenses are on a one-to-one basis for storage devices such as EMC Data Domain, IBM ProtecTIER, Sepaton, and FalconStor. The Servergraph Device Module license for Oracle RMAN is one license per each Oracle RMAN instance. If the Oracle RMAN database is backed up by a backup application, Oracle RMAN is considered to work like any other scheduler such as IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler and no license fee is charged.

Monitor/Disaster Recovery (DR) license

One Monitor/DR license is required for each backup application instance used for monitoring purposes only. This is typically associated with a backup application instance not performing active backups. Monitor/DR licenses are also required for use in standby installations for disaster recovery environments with warm or hot standby systems. A backup instance is a single instance of the backup application, not the physical server. In cases where a single physical server could run, for example, three instances of a backup application, the customer would purchase three licenses if each of the three instances is used for monitoring or disaster recovery.

Pricing examples

Scenario 1

A customer wishes to acquire Rocket Servergraph Professional for their environment. The customer wants Servergraph reporting on 1,500 nodes and must purchase 1,500 nodes of Rocket Servergraph Professional based on cumulative tier pricing for their total purchase:

Tier Nodes
Tier 1 (10-24 nodes) 24
Tier 2 (25-49 nodes) 25
Tier 3 (50-99 nodes) 50
Tier 4 (100-499 nodes) 400
Tier 5 (500-999 nodes) 500
Tier 6 (1,000-1,999 nodes) 501
Total Nodes 1,500

If this customer wishes to purchase 36 months of service and support for Servergraph up front, the order will be placed for the corresponding tier part numbers which include 36 months.

Statement of good security practices
Bottom rule

IT system security involves protecting systems and information through prevention, detection, and response to improper access from within and outside your enterprise. Improper access can result in information being altered, destroyed, or misappropriated or can result in misuse of your systems to attack others. Without a comprehensive approach to security, no IT system or product should be considered completely secure and no single product or security measure can be completely effective in preventing improper access. IBM systems and products are designed to be part of a comprehensive security approach, which will necessarily involve additional operational procedures, and may require other systems, products, or services to be most effective. IBM does not warrant that systems and products are immune from the malicious or illegal conduct of any party.
