Description |
IBM Financial Transaction Manager for z/OS, V3.0 includes the following core components:
- A conceptual data model that supports the persistence of financial transactions (for example, payments or securities) objects (files, batches, transactions, acknowledgements), partner profile data, service, and channel definitions. It holds a rich repository of payment data stored in the ISO20022 based internal standard format (ISF), which provides rich views of the payments processing from the Financial Transaction Manager user interface and for interrogation using Transaction Processing Facility's management information system or other reporting products. This data model is delivered as a set of entity relationship diagrams, data dictionary documents, and data definition language (DDL) for IBM DB2® and IBM DB2 for z/OS.
- A standardized message model based on ISO 20022. This enables the reduction of the number of point-to-point interactions and enables a more agile approach to introducing new services, and promotes reuse of processes. It is delivered as XML schemas for use with IBM Integration Bus.
- An engine to manage transaction processing lifecycle in the form of a state machine for process flow execution. It is event driven architecture and is driven by data derived from IBM Rational® Software Architect. It is delivered as IBM Integration Bus projects and also uses an Eclipse plug-in for Rational Software Architect to extract data to drive the state machine.
- A prebuilt set of dashboards to provide a business activity monitor view of the processing that uses the events generated by Financial Transaction Manager.
- A prebuilt set of message translations in and out of the ISF to accelerate integration with different message types, for example, with SWIFT messages.
- A configuration and administrative user interface to provide a view of the data model. It also supports appropriately authorized operations personnel interacting with the processing steps of a transaction (for example, resubmit a transaction).
- Documentation for the development methodology, user interface, installation and setup, message model, data model, and sample application.
- A sample application to demonstrate capability of the environment. It contains a sample process to demonstrate the processing of individual payments (SWIFT MT 103) and batch payments (pain.001 and pain.002) in the Financial Transaction Manager environment. It shows how to go from functional requirements to high level design to implementation of these processes in IBM Financial Transaction Manager.

Virtual Server
Virtual Server is a unit of measure by which the program can be licensed. A server is a physical computer that is comprised of processing units, memory, and input/output capabilities and that executes requested procedures, commands, or applications for one or more users or client devices. Where racks, blade enclosures, or other similar equipment is being employed, each separable physical device (for example, a blade or a rack-mounted device) that has the required components is considered itself a separate server. A virtual server is either a virtual computer created by partitioning the resources available to a physical server or an unpartitioned physical server. Licensee must obtain Virtual Server entitlements for each virtual server made available to the program, regardless of the number of processor cores in the virtual server or the number of copies of the program on the virtual server.
When determining the number of Virtual Server entitlements required for licensee's installation or use of the program, the installation or use of the program when used for Development and Unit Testing on single user machines are not taken into consideration. Development and Unit Testing means that the program is deployed as part of licensee's internal development and unit testing on a single user Developer Machine. A Developer Machine is a physical or virtual desktop environment, running a primary operating system and the program, both of which are accessible and used by no more than one developer at one time. Licensee is not authorized to use the program for processing production workloads, simulating production workloads or testing scalability of any code, application or system. Licensee is not authorized to use any part of the program for any other purposes without acquiring the appropriate production entitlements.
Value Unit (VU) (Financial Transaction Manager for z/OS)
VU is a unit of measure by which the program is licensed. VU Proofs of Entitlement (PoEs) are based on the number of units of a specific resource used or managed by the program.
In this case, the unit of measure is the number of Master Transactions processed by the program in any calendar month, measured in packs of a million Master Transactions. A Master Transaction is a set of instructions initiated from an application external to the program (for example, business banking web channel or manual message entry channel) or triggered by an event in the program (for example, recurring payment or time of day to start bulk processing). The Master Transaction manages the related business activity and logical unit of work including all updates and events associated with the various processing steps and ending when the final instruction is sent to an external application or the processing lifecycle is complete. A Master Transaction will initiate underlying transactions during its processing lifecycle.
Master transactions are only counted for production transactions. However, should a customer use the program only for nonproduction purposes on a particular platform (multiplatform or z/OS), they much purchase a minimum of one RVU on that platform.
Licensee must obtain sufficient entitlements for the number of VUs required for licensee's environment for the specific resources as specified in the program specific table. VU entitlements are specific to the program and the type of resource and may not be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with VU entitlements of another program or resource. Refer to the program specific VU table below.
IBM Financial Transaction Manager for z/OS is a prerequisite for IBM Financial Transaction Manager for SEPA Services for z/OS, IBM Financial Transaction Manager for Corporate Payment Services for z/OS, IBM Financial Transaction Manager for UK Payments Integration for z/OS, and IBM Financial Transaction Manager for SWIFT Business Services for z/OS. An entitlement to at least one RVU of IBM Financial Transaction Manager for z/OS is required in order to obtain an entitlement to any of the aforementioned dependent products.

Statement of good security practices |
IT system security involves protecting systems and information through prevention, detection, and response to improper access from within and outside your enterprise. Improper access can result in information being altered, destroyed, or misappropriated or can result in misuse of your systems to attack others. Without a comprehensive approach to security, no IT system or product should be considered completely secure and no single product or security measure can be completely effective in preventing improper access. IBM systems and products are designed to be part of a comprehensive security approach, which will necessarily involve additional operational procedures, and may require other systems, products, or services to be most effective. IBM does not warrant that systems and products are immune from the malicious or illegal conduct of any party.

IBM Electronic Services |
Electronic Service Agent and the IBM Electronic Support web portal are dedicated to providing fast, exceptional support to IBM Systems customers. The IBM Electronic Service Agent tool is a no-additional-charge tool that proactively monitors and reports hardware events, such as system errors, performance issues, and inventory. The Electronic Service Agent tool can help you stay focused on your company's strategic business initiatives, save time, and spend less effort managing day-to-day IT maintenance issues. Servers enabled with this tool can be monitored remotely around the clock by IBM Support, all at no additional cost to you.
Now integrated into the base operating system of AIX V5.3, AIX V6.1, and AIX V7.1, Electronic Service Agent is designed to automatically and electronically report system failures and utilization issues to IBM, which can result in faster problem resolution and increased availability. System configuration and inventory information collected by the Electronic Service Agent tool also can be viewed on the secure Electronic Support web portal, and used to improve problem determination and resolution by you and the IBM support team. To access the tool main menu, simply type smitty esa_main, and select Configure Electronic Service Agent. In addition, ESA now includes a powerful web user interface, giving the administrator easy access to status, tool settings, problem information, and filters. For more information and documentation on how to configure and use Electronic Service Agent, refer to
The IBM Electronic Support portal is a single Internet entry point that replaces the multiple entry points traditionally used to access IBM Internet services and support. This portal enables you to gain easier access to IBM resources for assistance in resolving technical problems. The My Systems and Premium Search functions make it even easier for Electronic Service Agent tool-enabled customers to track system inventory and find pertinent fixes.
Benefits
Increased uptime: The Electronic Service Agent tool is designed to enhance the Warranty or Maintenance Agreement by providing faster hardware error reporting and uploading system information to IBM Support. This can translate to less wasted time monitoring the symptoms, diagnosing the error, and manually calling IBM Support to open a problem record. Its 24x7 monitoring and reporting mean no more dependence on human intervention or off-hours customer personnel when errors are encountered in the middle of the night.
Security: The Electronic Service Agent tool is designed to be secure in monitoring, reporting, and storing the data at IBM. The Electronic Service Agent tool is designed to securely transmit either via the Internet (HTTPS or VPN) or modem to provide customers a single point of exit from their site. Communication is one way. Activating Electronic Service Agent does not enable IBM to call into a customer's system.
For additional information, refer to IBM Electronic Service Agent
More accurate reporting: Because system information and error logs are automatically uploaded to the IBM Support center in conjunction with the service request, you are not required to find and send system information, decreasing the risk of misreported or misdiagnosed errors. Once inside IBM, problem error data is run through a data knowledge management system and knowledge articles are appended to the problem record.
Customized support: Using the IBM ID entered during activation, you can view system and support information in the My Systems and Premium Search sections of the Electronic Support website at
My Systems provides valuable reports of installed hardware and software using information collected from the systems by Electronic Service Agent. Reports are available for any system associated with your IBM ID. Premium Search combines the function of search and the value of Electronic Service Agent information, providing advanced search of the technical support knowledgebase. Using Premium Search and the Electronic Service Agent information that has been collected from your system, you are able to see search results that apply specifically to your systems.
